Ah, Promised Land is so underrated, though. I can't believe that so many people dislike that album. After that one, though, I won't try and convince people otherwise, but I firmly believe that Promised Land is a great album. |

I saw QR on the Promised Land tour, and I didn't even own the album at the time. Great show, but to this day I still haven't bought the CD. Figure that one out

| I think I will give take cover a try. The band has changed so much since their s/t ep. Queen of the Reich is such an awesome song. It's the kind of song that gets stuck in your head. | |

It can't be that bad...I'm gonna listen now... _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| I'e listened to this cd a few times today...and I dig it.
I do agree that Tate's voice does not seem quite as powerful as on past oferings, but it's still better than alot of crap 've heard in recent years.
Some of the arrangements seem a little tame but not unejoyable.
The JESUS CHRIST SUPERSTAR song completely rules as do the POLICE and PETER GABRIEL covers...
and those are the 3 I cared about most. _________________ "Oh man, I need TV? When I got T Rex"

| Right on. I hope the label sends me this copy soon. Sometimes they take months, which annoys me. And Tate's voice is definitely not what it used to be, but that's like going from amazing to outstanding, you know? Haha. |

| Well take into account I haven't even heard 2/3s of the tracklist before, I don't have anything to compare it with really. So overall I thought it fit in well with everything they released Empire forward, with the exception of Welcome To The Machine and Neon Knights. The only weak part is that Tate's vocals are a bit distracting at times. Since its a cover album i'll break it down song by song 1. Welcome To The MachineI'm already a Pink Floyd fan anyway, so I knew before I even listened to it that there was that. They kept the Pink Floyd vibe in it, so its still a bit trippy, and they kept in the sax leads too, which is cool, its a bit heavier. I think Roger Waters and Tate have a similar vocal style, but that doesn't mean much since Gilmour sang the original 2. Heaven On Their MindsThe main lead riff is really cool, it drew me in and I love this cover because of it. Its really heavy and i'm sure i'll come back to it often. 3. Almost Cut My HairAgain, haven't heard the original. I like this cover alot too, the musicianship is excellent. 4. For What It's WorthI've heard this song on the radio, and except for the line "stop hey, whats that sound, everybody look whats going down." I woulden't of even recognized it at all! They changed it alot, which worked well I thought. They really turned this one into their own. Cool Spanish acoustic guitar thoughout. 5. For The Love Of MoneyReally heavy guitar on this one. I think i've heard the original on this one too, but its hard to tell as I think they changed this one around alot too. 6. InnudenoThis is one of the songs I have in my collection. Tate's vocals fit in well on this one, and I thought even better then Freddie's original, made the song a little darker. 7. Neon KnightsHeaven and Hell is my favourite album, Black Sabbath is my favourite band, so I'm biased here. Musicwise, the band was spot on, however Tate's vocals were a bit distracting. An excellent cover though, they nailed Iommi's solo. 8. Synchronicity IIReally good cover, one of the better ones I thought. 9. Red RainSame, I liked this one alot. I haven't heard the original though. 10. OdisseaInteresting song, thats really all I can say. I do like it. 11. Bullet In The Blue SkyHaven't heard the original but this live cover is really good. So, I like this CD start to finish, I diden't feel the urge to skip once. Definatley worth it I'd say. I'm not even a huge QR fan either. | |

My opinions usually don't change, but no doubt I might start using the skip button after a few more listens. Those were pretty much my initial thoughts cause someone asked me on the Deth forums.

| I received my copy of this in the mail. Sort of boring IMO, and I love cover albums. The songs sound somewhat generic. I was hoping that QR would own these songs, but they don't really. The Pink Floyd cover is good. The Peter Gabriel cover is sort of fun. The Black Sabbath cover, which I was really looking forward to, is ok, but I've heard far better covers of that song.
I'll need to give it a few more spins. Might just not have hit me on the first listen.

| Funny, I've been listening to this today because I have to review it. I've had it for a while and sort of liked it, but I forgot my MP3 player today and only brought the Wolfpack Unleashed CD with me (outside of current review material). So it was that CD, which is heavy, Ultimatum's Into The Pit, which is heavy, and Mass Extinction's Creations Undoing, which is also heavy. All too heavy to really play here at work before 6pm.
So I played Take Cover about 20 times between 12:30 and 6pm. Haha. I gotta say, my rough draft of the review is about to change drastically. I probably listened to it too much, but I started seriously picking it apart. I think some songs are cool, but I honestly think Geoff sounds pretty bad. I don't know if he's singing off key a lot, or if someone in the studio was trying to get creative with auto-tuning and pushed tons of notes off the mark. All I know is I was cringing tons of times. I've already in the past said he sounded pretty out of key and weak on the Floyd tune, but after much careful listening, I heard it all over the disc. And the guitar tone is really weak as hell.
This is what I said on the first page after hearing just a few songs:
Looks like this will be your typical covers album. Decent, but without much passion.
That's about right, unfortunately. |

| As far as cover albums go, Overall, I think it's better than Poison's cover album, but pales in comparision to Tesla's. I like that they (QR) picked some tunes that haven't been already covered to death. | |

Right, I do like that the songs are different, but there's very little life in them. I will say, though, I think the live cover of "Bullet The Blue Sky" is pretty awesome. That song has what the other songs lack. |

| It is pretty good for what it is. I think that some of the song they picked to cover are lame like the BSF song. UGGHHA I hate that song. Don't like it by Telsa either but the Queensryche version is alright for a crappy song in the first place. I think a lot of it is good though. Pink Floyd , Black Sabbath, ALW, Police etc. Like I said It is pretty good for what it is but about 3 or 4 of the songs songs I never liked at all and I can't help but hear the originals in my head yeecckkk !!! They could have pick more good ones then thy did . |
