You have a very commercial song like "Hungry For Heaven", which threw people for a loop...
Not sure why it would, you had "Rainbow in the Dark" on HD and "Mystery" on LiL, followed up by "Could Have Been a Dreamer" on DE, Dio was pretty consistent in including radio friendly hits...
I partially agree with this, only because I forgot about the song "Mystery", which I think was a total misstep, and a joke of a song. I think "Rainbow In the Dark" was only commercial, because radio stations decided to jump on it. Just because the song opened up with keyboards in my mind doesn't make it a commercial song, due to the riff that was so not commercial. "Mystery" like that of "Hungry For Heaven" sounds like it was written for the sole intention of being catchy enough that radio would have no choice but to play it. "I Could Have Been a Dreamer" was heavy, except for the chorus, which sounded a little commercial. The rest of the song wouldn't be construed as commercial.

It's OK but not essential Dio by any means.
...and yeah, "Shoot Shoot" is probably his worst song ever.

"Rainbow in the Dark" as well as "Could've Been a Dreamer" both have that catchy chorus that make them very radio friendly, it doesn't make them bad, but they are commercial, certainly more than say "Egypt" (the chains are on)!
FYI, just because a song opens w/keys doesn't make it commercial, ala "Gates of Babylon", but when is has that catchy jingle key sound as "Rainbow in the Dark" does peppered throughout the entire song, then it certainly does!

One of the things I loved about Dio is he was a great story teller, one guy joked about how his version of the song "Black Sabbath" sounded like a guy at a campfire w/a flashlight held to his face telling corny ghost stories, where as Ozzy sounded as he was truly living it...true that! Ozzy was perfect for old Sabbath, but I couldn't imagine him singing "Children of the Sea" or "Sign of the Southern Cross", Dio truly was "The Man Who Would Be King!"

I honestly don't remember it, even though I owned it back in the day. This could be because I didn't rate it but was more likely because it was during my thrash years and Dio was one of the people that just wasn't doing it for me anymore. I have of course come back to my original love of Rainbow & Dio Sabbath, but I'm only mildly interested in Dio as a band and the first two are enough for me.
