| Any folks here who ride?
This summer is my first season, but I love it. I actually just got my class 6 license this morning, so I'm done with exams and such now and can ride two up if I please.

| I used to but gave it up on account of all the dangerous car drivers I always encountered. At least around my area it just wasn't safe anymore. Too many elderly people behind the wheel.
Years back after a bad break-up I actually rode from coast to coast. I'd love to say it was an amazing life affirming journey that changed my whole world view.... unfortunately I was more glad I made it alive to California. Though Shamrock, Texas will always have a special place in my heart for fairly decadent reasons.
Kind of look at it as one of those things I loved when I was younger but now have too many other responsibilities to risk it.
Enjoy it and be safe. | |

| I understand the traffic thing, fortunately I live in a pretty small town and trafficis petty minimal. I would love to do a criss country road trip on the bike but that looks like it will have to wait for next year. | |

| Just off-road dirt bikes, too many idiots on the main roads to ever consider doing the street bike thing.

| Nice! Mines a '92 Suzuki Intruder vs1400 I can't seem to post any pics from my phone onto the forum, but I found an old promo poster of the same bike (color and all) I bought it used just over a month ago. Only had 12,500 km's on it so it's really just broke in. Is in just as good shape as that promo pic. | |

Those are really nice bikes. I test drove one while working in Idaho earlier this summer. _________________

| Tried to ride two up with my wife yesterday, but the shocks are a bit too squishy. The bike has a rear tire that is a bit wider than stock so whey we hit a bump the extra rubber rubs on the edges of the rear fender. Looks like stiffer shocks are the first mods I'm going to be making to the intruder. Wife's just gonna have to wait till next spring to ride with me. | |

| Since I was about 10 years old. Started out on a Honda 70 monkeybike, rode trials for a while & raced road courses in my early to mid teens. I wish I had stuck with road racing, it is the most fun you will ever have on 2 wheels, especially when your coach was Fast Freddy Spencer! My current ride is a 09 XR1200 Sportster, the only Hog for folks under 70 imo!! | |

| My brother and I rode for many years... We stopped after his seat became permanently wedged and had to be surgically removed. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Love bikes and atv's. I had a streetbike before moving to the midwest....sold it so I didn't have to move it. A life long friend of my Dad's was killed on his Harley two years ago and I must confess, it hit me and my dad pretty hard (it was completely his fault, he was drunk and cut a corner on a curvy road). I still would get another street bike, but that "riding bug" that usually hits me every Spring has diminished quite a bit. So many idiots out there and I have deer in the roads constantly where I live....that worries me more than anything. They step out in front of you out of nowhere and you're on a bike? Game over.
My next bike will probably be a Polaris ATV or Ranger. Would come in handy on our property and you can have fun on them year round. I say Polaris just because there's a dealer in town. I'd rather have a Yamaha or a Honda honestly.

| My next door neighbor has two Harleys, and he and his wife frequently go on trips on them. I've got a picture somewhere of my kids sitting on his touring bike. They think it's cool when he comes roaring out of the garage on the bike.
I've personally never even been on a motorcycle. Whatever interest I might have had in them was diminished when I was a teenager cuz my Dad was involved in an auto accident with a guy on a bike. My Dad was waiting to pull out of a restaurant parking lot when this dude (who we later found out was drunk as a skunk at the time) came flying up on a bike, plowed into the front of my Dad's car, and went flying over the hood and onto the roadway. I didn't witness it but from what my Dad said, the guy was F'd up pretty badly, as he didn't have a helmet or any protective gear on.
This happened while we were in Upstate New York on vacation. About two years later, my Dad got a summons in the mail informing him that the guy was suing him for $2 million (!) even though my Dad had already been cleared of any fault in the incident. So he had to take a week out of his life to drive five hours upstate, appear in court and basically tell the guy to go F himself.
Basically what I learned from that whole experience was that in the event of a car/motorcycle collision, the car always wins. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

I lost a former co-worker that way. He hit a buck on some back road and bled to death before any help could arrive.

| Motorcycle joke from Drew Carey:
Oswald: Hey Drew! Something I've always wanted ask someone who owns a motorcycle. Can have your bike when you get in a wreck and die?
Drew: Oswald! Do you know the chances of... Yeah, you can have it.
