What you say may have been valid in 2003 due to technology/medium restrictions, but not anymore. If you have the skills you can do everything digital now, and beyond. And for the record, that Repka drawing is digital too. Precisely. These are the next Shock Totem releases. All digital.

If you have the skills you can do everything digital now I beg to disagree on that...You mean portrait paintings can be easily done thru computers? Oh come on...There is a HUUUUUGE difference between blending basic colors using oil vs copy/pasting/dragging on what colors the Computer is providing you. You CANNOT replicate renaissance painting using computers!

You CANNOT replicate renaissance painting using computers! Dude, stop. You're wrong. The medium is different, of course, but if you're skilled enough, you can make a digital piece of art look exactly like a real painting. Obviously if one were to scrutinize each up close, the difference would be clear, as digital "paintings" are flat. But if you stepped back a few feet, you'd never know the difference. And blending digital colors is no different than blending paint colors.

Well the argument here is "you can do everything digital now" I'm just stressing my point. It ain't possible. ever. I'm not saying that I have a trained eye, but I can clearly see it, some can't...

And I can guarantee that you can't see it. You've viewed countless album covers that are not paintings and you never knew. =)

| Elmo, I'm talking about drawings which are painted by hand using tablet and painter or photoshop software - you can do everything if you are skilled enough. There are canvases and brush/spatula tools which emulate virtually the same results like the real deal. If you are copy/pasting type of an "artist" then obviously you cannot. You obviously cannot see it clearly, since thinking Repka's art is traditional medium... but let's have a small game. Here's an artwork, you tell me if it is trad or digital. To help you out I'll also post several close-ups to see it very clearly in detail. Here goes: P.S. sorry for hijacking the thread. Moderators please feel free to separate this into a new topic, thanks! | |
