| Where do all of you make most of your music purchases. I buy most of my stuff used from Newbury Comics at three seperate locations and alternate these locations each week so as to let the stock rotate a little at each place. I buy absolutely nothing online only because I am old fashioned and like to hold something in my hand before I buy it. I also think it helps me stick to a budget this way because it's different to have to open your wallet and peel off the greenbacks for a cd than keep tapping "pay now" on the paypal account. Peace. | |

| Well since the only good place to buy music is almost an hour trip from my house I usually HAVE to buy my stuff online. But the only places I have bought online are Ebay, Amazon, Cduniverse and thats it but I know a ton of placesvto get good stuff like rebellionstamp.com, metalmayhem.com, thrashcorner.com, gemm.com and others. |

| I go to a place called Vintage Vinyl, fatfreddy told me to go and I love it. I go there like month or two and just waste money on used cds or new cds that I wouldn't be able to find in huge chain storesl like Best Buy or FYE. I order on Ebay or Amazon once in a while. | |

Happy to be of service, glad you like Vintage Vinyl as much as I do. (tips hat)... wish I could visit there a little more frequently!!

| I buy from a mix of online sites and used shops. I do buy my fair share of retail-priced CDs, but mostly it's used stuff or bargains from used shops or online sites. |

| Most stuff I buy comes from second hand stores and specialized metalshops. There's about 30 to 40 decent second hand stores in a 50 mile radius around where I live... And for some reason there's a lot of good stuff in their bins for nice prices all of the time, although they sometime overprice stuff wat too easy as well. Another positive aspect is that there is a huge number of cd-singles, vinyl and promo items available here. Each time when my cousin from the USA comes over he spends at least $1500 on music related stuff. It can be pretty good shopping overhere. |

| I buy mostly online, as I only have 2 used CD stores near me, and both rarely have anything that I'm interested in. _________________ You're cancer, you can't be the answer, you're killing me

And you also have some cool cds/lps fairs every year, holland is great for buying music. I know about the PLATENBOEF in the center of ROTTERDAM, and their is one good one in DEN HAAG.

| I get my music almost exsclusively on-line....I live in a town almost devoid of all good music/CD places....
My favorites:
Ebay - there are bargains to be found....just have to work a little..
nuclearhell.com - (European and Russian versions but I've NEVER had a problem with them, they are full releases often with bonus material not found in US and they have great prices...I LOVE Nuclearhell...)
theendrecords.com - They are out of stock a lot but sometimes...at just the right time...they come through with some rare thing I'm looking for..
cdbaby.com - you have to watch and dig but they often have good deals on hard to find or obscure stuff..
radrockers.com - they specialize in Christian Metal....they get a lot of hate or mixed reviews here but I've dealt with them since the mid 90's with nary a problem..I don't buy heavily from them but when I do it's been a good experience. They have a reputation for stocking "bootlegs" or burned copies but I've also found a quick Email up front asking about the product will bring a straight-forward answer....
cdinzane - they often have some rare stuff at good prices and they have a clearance area I like to check out....once got Rob Rock - Eyes Of Eternity, Warmachine - The Beginning of the End and Dark Empire - Distant Tides for $5 a piece! That one made my week!
lala.com - this is a buying/trading site and if you've got a lot of stuff you want to unload on people you can get some good stuff in return. If you have a back tray art fetish then it's a gamble (I'm running about 80-85% getting back tray art) but it is a good deal) EYESORE...I've not given up quite yet....like the dumb but hot girlfriend you can't stand but can't get out of your system I keep going back to LaLa....Got an Imagika cd coming....and I sent that message like you do....the guy doesn't have the back art!!!!! but at least I know and won't be so annoyed when I excitedly open the package..anyhow....back on topic
Hope these few help Sentinel..I haven't bought a CD in person in about 18 months with no regrets....and I average about $8.50-$9.00 per title shipping included....but that's mostly a function of my willingness to pass up a CD for $10 when I think I can get it for $8.75...I do have patience.....

| I buy 95% of my music online from places like cduniverse, rockadrome, ebay, evillegendrecords, metaldisc, sentinelsteel, etc.
I used to shop a lot on ebay but i had a bad month and kept on getting bootlegs so i've slowed it down a lot there. I need to see a good picture of any rarity that i buy now. thats why i won't ever shop from musicstack or gemm

| I've purchased a few dozen from them...they are UK based but get their CDs from Russia. They come in regular jewel cases with all art that you'd be used to. I've never had one problem with any CD I got from them....if you buy 3 or more shipping is free...if you buy 5-14 the prices are 5% off....15 or more the prices are 10% off....
They state they will take 10-28 days for delivery and that's usually about right...seems it's always 2-3 weeks for mine to come.....
They are pretty good at answering Emails that aren't already covered in their FAQs and their site is fairly easy to navigate....

Are you on their mailing list? Best time to buy is as soon as you get that e-mail. They sell out a lot because they don't stock a lot. It's pretty expensive to run The End, so they try to guage how much will sell and buy just that much. Yeah, they sell out, but it's financially better to have too little than too much, you know? - Quote :
cdinzane - they often have some rare stuff at good prices and they have a clearance area I like to check out....once got Rob Rock - Eyes Of Eternity, Warmachine - The Beginning of the End and Dark Empire - Distant Tides for $5 a piece! That one made my week! Not a huge fan of these guys. I hate how they offer preorders like a year in advance, but that's petty of me. What I really hate is that all three times I've ordered a Japanese import from them it's been backordered and then I get a version with no bonus track(s). And I wait 4 months for it. They've got some deals, but I'm not a big fan. - Quote :

Also, you may no be a fan of it, but tell them they can fold the back art if it's easier. A lot of people don't include it because they think it's a hassle to fit it in there, especially with the new envelopes that can be a little tight. It's easy to take a butter knife and stretch the envelope, but some people don't want to or care to, but if they can fold the back art, that's a piece of cake. I get a CD with out back art about every 50 receives. Not a bad average at all. I'll also suggest the used/clearance sections of Sentinel Steel and The Laser's Edge (Sensory Records). Lots of killer deals there. |

No problem my friend I just started to buy from there they have stuff the other places rarely get. Although Sentinel Steel is moving so he isn't accepting orders but that should be soon, he has fast service as well! Let me know how that Steel Assassin is? Wargod48

| Whoops. Didn't see Sentinel Steel mentioned before. To give an example of the deals that Ken Golden has at The Laser's Edge, I just placed this order:
Maraya - No Hope For Humanity $4.00 Twelfth Gate - Threshold Of Revelation $5.00 Paradise Lost - Icon $5.00 Paradise Lost - Shades Of God $5.00 Paradise Lost - As I Die $5.00
Can't beat it. I doubt I'll like the Maraya disc much (I don't really like Counterculture much), but it completes my Wicked Maraya/Maraya collection. Good price for a hard to find disc, too. |

| I'm mostly an on-line shopper anymore (ebay & cdbaby, mostly), but I still scour the local used shop and flea markets when I have time. The only retail shopping I do is at Best Buy, usually when it's a new release that I'm looking for and Best Buy has it on sale. FYE is only good for their used section. Their regular prices are WAYYYYYYY too expensive. | |

My friend works at FYE (he's a retail lifer!), and their used prices are waaaaaaay too expensive, too! Haha. I have him buy me stuff from the used bin on his employee discount. |

| You guys are lucky... I've never really found anything good in the used bins at FYE...
There was a Coconuts Music & Video store near the office where I used to work, and their used bins were a GOLD mine. I used to go over there on my lunch break at least once a week and I'd always find a goodie. (Best score: a Combat Records pressing of Megadeth's KILLING IS MY BUSINESS for $9.99. Woo hoo!) Then they transferred me to this office in a no-man's-land industrial park surrounded by woods, with no decent CD stores (or much of ANYTHING) within a short drive, so I miss that store terribly (sob!)

Sometimes, but I've found some gems for $5 or $6 bucks. The FYE near me is the wholesale hub for the other FYE's in the area, so their stock is from the other stores clear-out and is basically their last chance for sale. I had a buddy that worked at Tower that would do the same for me. R.I.P. Tower Records.
