Thoughts on this band?

My first thought was Celtic Frost with blast beats. I don't mind that type of drumming when it's used for short punctuated statements, but it irritates me during an entire song. The slow section in the middle was cool and the guitarist had a few interesting chord choices.

Overall not something I would listen to, I don't have anything against it, but I find my inspiration elsewhere.

I liked the song for the most part, although the drum sound began to get on my nerves.

As a whole, the song sounded a bit like primitive-black metal (Celtic Frost, Bathory, etc) melded with death metal which is pretty cool.

I think A Hill To Die Upon are great. The only problem I have with them is that a lot of times, the drummer loses time because the tempo is just too fast to keep up with. The song posted is a perfect example, right from the start of it. He can't keep up that tempo, so he has to compensate by throwing in the little breaks/fills at the end of each measure. You drummers out there should know what I mean when you hear it.

Otherwise, excellent band, and I look forward to more from them.

My initial thought... the name is a sentence, so they must suck.

After listening... I like the vocals, and the music is pretty good too. I would probably investigate further.

I really liked their debut but haven't picked anything else up.

I agree. The first one is pretty decent. And I too have not purchased anything else though.

Lol....that was my initial thought, as well. Then I finally heard them on a comp, and my initial conclusion was promptly disproven.

Their second one, Omens, is just as intense and good as the debut, but with a better mix and they did progress a little. The song ult posted is from Omens.

Ehhhhh.... not my thang. Even if it didn't have WOOOAAARRRRRGH vox, those drums sound like someone machine-gunning BB's into a tin can. Irritating as hell.

Bah! Half the fun of online metal forums is the slamming of bands and releases. Honestly sometimes I would rather read a slam than someone going on about how much they like something.

i like both albums. they are a good black/death band.

Slamming bands is boring to me. I find nothing fun about being negative. Not saying I've never given anything a negative comment or whatever, but listening to people do nothing but talk trash, even in small doses, is really tiring.

It's a part of Internet culture that I'll never understand. Just look at the Geoff Tate/Queensryche thread. It's the negative aspect of that thread that's got it up to 22 pages.

Debut is fairly unique in the world of blackened death metal. A quality album.
Second album sounds like the poor mans Behemoth, 90% forgettable garbage in my opinion.

I listened thinking it wouldn't be something I'd dig but have to admit by the end of the 3:24 I was sold. I'd buy it if I found it cheap.

The debut was the last good Christian metal album I got at Mardel. For almost two years now their music department was full of mostly crap. The only Retroactive releases (that they used to have quite often) are the older ones I already have.

A friend of my son has been telling me about this band for a year and I've ignored it. Primarily BECAUSE of the "sentence name." I honestly assumed it was screamo cuz I know he likes some other tweecore stuff. But boy, I should of listened. This sounds really good. I'm gonna have to get some of their stuff. Super brutal, deep death vocals. Love it!
