| I go both ways with this. I still prefer to listen to albums front to back. But I also listen to my iPod on shuffle most of the time. To me it fulfills my childhood desire to be radio DJ so I could play what I wanted to hear (I thought it worked that way. Ha.) So my metal playlist is kind of like that---I never what will be next but I know I will like it to some degree (or I would not have that song on there). It is interesting to go from Ratt to Origin to Diamond Head to Malice to Decrepit Birth to Xentrix to Angel Dust to Eternal Ryte, etc.
Also, there is a way to have two songs always play back to back (ie , embryo and children of the grave) even on shuffle. You have to select that option when putting them into your iTunes. You can not do it afterwards.

| Sometimes the shuffle option pisses me off cause I forget it's on, or it gets turned on and I'll start and album and it'll switch to something completely different and throws me for a loop.
I also hate when the Intro of an album is shuffled in! And it'll just say "Intro" or it'll be a 1:00 min track. Mostly Power Metal stuff.
In general, I like albums, but as I said in my other thread, I might get restless after a few tracks, especially if I'm not enjoying the album as much as I would have hoped, and I either switch to a different one, or put on shuffle.
I typically like to only put shuffle on for specific genres though, or artists. My library is organized by Genre/Artist/Album, so I'll click on whatever I'm feeling like and shuffle the whole genre.

| I generally do "smart playlists" in iTunes when I'm in the mood for a radio style experience. I'll select a couple genres, limit it to specific years, maybe select only live tracks, things like that.

Sure it does. It's an upbeat hard rock song. Sounds a lot like Damn Yankees. _________________ ULTIMATUM - TOO METAL FOR WIKIPEDIA!

Shroud of Science - Ultimatum Ballad of Arlis Richards - Big Tent Revival See Through - Audio Adrenaline 2 Minutes to Midnight - Iron Maiden Burn Witch Burn - Grave Robber Grave Robber - Petra Good Morning Planetarium - Falling Up La La La Zoom Zoom Zoom - Incubus Lonely - Stryper Alone in Suicide - Bloodgood Stand in the Gap - Petra Ragged Old Flag - Johnny Cash Some New Song - Precious Death Desert Eagle Blues - Crosswire Paper Shoes - Incubus The DMV Incident - Christopher Titus The Phantom of the Crimson Cloak - 3 Inches of Blood Hallowed Land - Paradise Lost Point of View - Fates Warning Allentown - Billy Joel Jimmy - Lost Dogs Heaven on Earth - Bloodgood Stoned & Drunk - Black Label Society Supernova Goes Pop - Powerman 5000 The Show Must Go On - Queen
Much better this time around than the last but it brings to light another problem with shufflin and that is the inclusion of Stand-Up Comedy albums on the iPod. If I am in the mood for some comedy then I play the whole album, but if not then a single track popping up in string of songs is on beyond annoying.

I get that when I shuffle my computer music. It's also annoying to get classical music or movie score tracks mixed in too.

You can use the playlist feature to avoid this. I have playlists for Metal/Rock, Jazz, Christmas, etc., then you can shuffle the individual playlist and avoid some of that. I use an iPod, so that is a feature of iTunes, but I'm sure there is something similar with other players, too.

| Tried it again as I ran errands for work. Came up with : Hex Omega - opeth Cold Embrace - Testament Pyre - opeth Ride he Lightning - Metallica BU2B - Rush Lady Evil - Black Sabbath Time Is Right - Motörhead Caravan - Rush Men of Fortune - 3 inches of blood
I think I'm gonna keep it going today, see how it pans out, so far it's been really enjoyable. The songs have flowed suprisingly well and anything out of place kinda came as a pleasant surprise.
