This is what happens to me. I end up skipping song after song after song....so I might as well just pick out the darn album I want and listen to it.

I hate when mine plays the same song twice within a 20 minute span. 500 songs to choose from and you played 'Daydream Believer' AGAIN? WTF? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I prefer the shuffle. The only thing I hate is when 2 songs which go together get split up -Savatage's Prelude To Madness/Hall Of The Mountain King for example. Prelude To Madness comes on and I want to hear the second part but on shuffle that ain't happening. | |

Yes, I hate that too. Any kind of intro that is supposed to set-up the next song is doesn't happen. Sometimes an intro segues into another cool tune though. It's happened to me before....but I can't think of a specific example.

| I could never listen on shuffle all the time, it would drive me nuts. I judge bands by albums and how well the songs work together to create something larger than their separate parts. I know most people don't care about "albums" any more, but I've been an album guy since the mid 70s so I don't see myself ever changing.

| This is what I do 75% of the time in my car. I've got a 4 gig flash drive that I've filled up with a wide assortment of stuff from all genres. I like to put it on "random" and see what comes up. I do find myself hitting the skip button fairly often because as OCI said, sometimes it picks something I'm just not in the mood for. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| My iPod on shuffle went like this:
The Middle - Jimmy Eat World Big World - The Brave Download This Song - MC Lars Get Ready For The War - Arnion Suzy is a Headbanger - The Huntingtons This is the Line - Demon Hunter Get it Right - Authority Zero Sister Wisdom - Guardian Blood Still Stains - Brainstorm Denial Revisited - The Offspring Together Forever - Stryper Hard To See - Five Finger Death Punch RIP - Randy Rose The Unforgiven - Metallica Ignite - Fireflight Tchaikovsky: 1812 Overture - Igor Markevich - Royal Philharmonic Orchestra Break Me - Jesus Wept Guns Guns Guns - The Guess Who Refrigerator Car - The Spin Doctors Just Reach Out - Petra Simply - Pillar Stuck on You - Elvis Presley As I Shall be Raised - Mojo Strung Out - Van Halen Look Alive - Incubus
I love variety in my music but thats a little ridiculous! I almost never run on random for this exact reason. I tend to prefer albums

| The only times I end up listening to a whole album is if I just got it. After a few days I switch back to shuffle while I'm at work. Unless a song comes on and makes me want to listen to the rest of the album, then I'll switch. If I'm driving somewhere with my gf its on shuffle too but most of that time I'm skipping cause I know she'll laugh at certain songs because they are so "Cheesy". haha _________________ | |

I do that a lot and have that same problem. However, to avoid songs I'm not in the mood for, when I do that, I make a playlist of songs I want to hear. With my wide ranging tastes, shuffle is a godsend for variety. The only thing I hate is certain players that repeat several songs on longer playlists. Luckily the ones I've had in recent years don't have that problem. I have become much more of an album person in recent years, but I always seem to attatch more to songs than albums. That's why filler doesn't bother me too much. If I like about 70-75% of an album, I consider it a keeper.

That's exactly how I am nowdays. I do more full albums than in the past but for long car trips, house cleaning, and various stuff (when I run out of radio podcasts) I prefer shuffling several songs from playlists that I pre make the day or so before.

I'm with you! I much prefer the album format! Ditto here It's like watching a movie or reading a novel, gotta cover it from start to finish. However with other genre such as New Age, 80's Pop or Blues, I DO shuffle a lot.
