This new documentary tells the story of how Arnel Pineda was plucked from Filipino obscurity to become the new Journey frontman. I saw this story about it on the news last night -- the film just had its big-deal world premiere at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.

I think I saw this. Wasn't that the movie where Marky Mark was in this tribute band then he gets the gig as the real band's frontman and finds out how much it sucks being a rock star?

That movie you refer to "Rockstar" had it's moments...too bad they didn't keep it along the lines as originaly intended. Based on Ripper Owens story. There are some similarities still in the script.
The vocals by dude from Steelheart and Jeff Scott Soto were killer. I liked the seedy bar room back alley band performances better than the big Steel Dragon set ups. Also it is amazing seeing how big Jason Bonham was in this flic and how much he "shrunk" when he turned up in UFO shirtly thereafter.
Is this Journey doc gonna be broadcast on YouTube ? It is only fitting to include the format that got the balll rolling. Hat off to Amel ! Gifted singer
