I guarantee this will get called an angry album due to the subject manner but I feel it's more him expressing the fear of what many have and are feeling due to the economy. And it's not without hope lyrically. Ties together all his sound over the years including the Seeger sessions in some songs and an Irish tilt on a couple. If you are a fan you might be surprised at the use of loops but it's not overwhelming and this is a great addition to his catalog. Tom Morello is even on a couple songs.

Any Clarence Clemons on that? I was wondering if he laid down any tracks before he passed.

Thanks for the info Criss. I was only gonna pick this up if Clarence was on it. Now I have to get it.

I like some of Springsteen songs but i dont really think someone who is making around $50-$95 a seat in ticket prices really has that much room to complain about the wall streeters.

Just ordered it. I really like early Springsteen but the last album he released that did anything for me was "The Rising". I mainly bought this because it's the last we'll hear of The Big Man.

From what I have heard of it, this is the best Springsteen album since The Rising (not counting the Seeger Session). I have been meaning to pick it up, and will do so asap!

I've faded on my Springsteen love over the years. Not on the older material, but the newer stuff just doesn't stand up for me near as well. And I can't ever seem to figure out why. I get every album that he puts out but the last several have been a couple of plays then to the shelf it sits. I'm almost to the point where I feel the only Springsteen I need these days is the Live box and Live In NYC. Would love for this new one to blow me away, seems like I've been waiting on that for the last couple of albums.

I don't think it will blow you away but it's very good and I can see it lasting.

wow, I'm surprised at how many people here like Springsteen. I saw this thread yesterday and I figured it would be a flame-fest of hate. Good to see I was wrong on that. I'm not much of fan of Springsteen's "newer" stuff (last 25 years or so) so I probably won't be buying this anytime soon but I love his 70's stuff.

My copy of this came today. Haven't listened to it yet but I'm surprised nobody mentioned the odd oversized digipak this thing comes in.

That would be the deluxe edition with 2 bonus tracks, I have the standard edition!

So they had to make the pak bigger for 2 extra songs? Bruce Springsteen-Wrecking Ball 472591

I like most of this CD quite a bit but Rocky Ground has to be the worst thing Bruce has ever recorded. Rap in the middle???? WTF????

You were right about my enjoying the "Irish" touches here and there. I love Shackled And Drawn and Death To My Hometown. Actually, other than Jack Of All Trades and This Depression (zzzzzzzzzzz) and the aforementioned abysmal Rocky Ground, I like every song on this disc.
