Jack was also an accomplished jazz bassist...a badass one at that. Check out this clip:

Unconfirmed reports say it was liver disease.
Much like what John Bonham did with drums, Jack Bruce always made me think that he was one of the first guys to make people notice the bass in rock music. He made it more that just something to keep rhythm. He pushed the instrument into the forefront.
Rest in peace, Jack. You had a good run.

This sucks, Jack Bruce was incredible, whether with Cream, solo, or the work he did with Robin Trower, Gary Moore and Leslie West, the man was incredible talent

R.I.P. Only in the last year since hearing CREAM a Long time ago, I started listening to the bass guitar in their records. I was always drawn to the drums and vocals/guitar before, probably due to what magazines wrote.

The word legend is bandied around a lot but it really does apply here

It's nice to see a legend who actually went out at a ripe old age. While we could have always used him around longer, he did good.
I wasn't a huge Cream fan, but I did enjoy his work with Robin Trower. He was clearly a talent and the outpouring of reminiscences is definitely proof of that.
