i've heard the same thing about dubstep. doubtful. Dubstep is very popular here in Europe, especially in the UK. Always thought it was the same in the US? I even heard some Dubstep played during NHL games. Personally i always wondered why asian, especially japanese music by now isn't more popular. There are so many Nerds out there who seem to love everything japanese, then we have the whole "Generation Emo" who should listen to Visual Kei Bands non-stop. I've been to Japan 3 times, it's a beautiful country with great people and some very strange things. Like their pop music, i like it when i'm drunk and get a kick out of those crazy, crazy music videos they produce (like Mini Moni - Jankenpyon). This and K-Pop also are usually catchy as hell, so i can see some success.

This. Though I've successfully avoided pop stations for quite awhile now.

| I haven't listened to the radio since the 80's, so this has no impact on my whatsoever. I've spent a lifetime proudly listening to unpopular music, see no reason to change that now.

THe only thing I pay attention to from Asia is their extreme cinema. They have that genre covered in spades. Nobody breaks cinematic taboos like Asia. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| There was a teenager that worked for my company last summer who was way into dub step. One day I was playing some van halen on the jobsite and "Sunday afternoon in the park" came on. The kid thought it was the coolest sound. Made me laugh. | |

those k-pop & j-pop gals are cute though. I could get lost for hours watching K-pop/J-pop girl band videos on YouTube. :glee: There's one group that has like 10 or 12 girls in it and they were coming over to try to make it in America. I forget their name, but obviously they didn't "make it" here. They were gorgeous though. I still have never listened to dubstep. What is it? Just a twist on dance/electronic music? I know it's big with the hipsters and slackers.

to me it sounds like a mix of computer generated techno/rave mixed with drum n' bass & industrial music. _________________

| You forgot to mention the basslines that sound a bit like the noise you get when a CD skips | |
