So Mysterio never even connected? Yeah, then your theory makes sense. In the video in that article you only see the guy just hanging there completely unresponsive; the actual move had already taken place.
Perro takes a drop kick to the back from Rey and falls and hits the ropes. There's definitely something wrong with the ropes with either too much or too little give and that might be what gave him whiplash. (It appears to me they are way too tight at that point in the match, but I'm no expert on ring ropes.) Rey then does this 619, but sails over Perro's head. I don't know if Suicide (the other masked guy on the ropes) told him something was wrong or what.

Yeah, some comments I found on a different article agree with you.

After seeing video of the incident it looked to be just a freak accident. Botched original setup for the 619, rolls back into the ring, takes a seemingly regular dropkick to fix the original botch. Looked like he didn't catch himself right on the second rope and got major whiplash.
It's amazing things like this don't happen more often in Lucha Libre-style wrestling. The way those guy throw themselves around and launch themselves at each other? You'd think all that flying around would lead to more incidents like this than it does.

Yes. Those guys do some crazy moves and I can't imagine how much time they spend in training.

KISS did try to have their own wrestler - many moons ago. Cool seeing him there though - his son - wonder if he's cooler looking than Gene's son. A wrestling event is always a fun night out ! Many memories. I had front row seats one time - and 'the sandman'..... he's walking on the railing infront of me - splashed his beer everywhere ! I did have his shirt on and was clapping proudly !

Obviously an ECW show. I loved that company.
I've only been to live wrestling events twice in my life. Once was a WWWF event in Allentown, PA back in the early 70s. I saw wrestlers like The Spoiler, Freddie Blassie, Sonny King, Chief Jay Strongbow, El Olympico.
Then I saw WWE again in CT back in the early 90 and I saw guys like Razor Ramon and Shawn Michaels (oddly, those are the only two guys I remember; probably because I was too preoccupied watching the reactions of my girlfriend at the time. It was her idea to go. She would get so "wound up" watching wrestling that I knew the fun would ensue when we went home).

Been to two events. One was during the Undertaker's early days (he was defeated by The Ultimate Warrior). The only thing I really remember was a match between two guys now dead, Mr. Perfect and The British Bulldog. I remember Davey Boy using some kind of arm-bar and Mr. Perfect yelling out, "Ah shit!" May not seem like much, but that was before the Attitude area when the worst you could hear was "butt" and maybe, MAYBE a "damn".
The next time was during the Attitude Area during the feud between DX and The Heart Foundation. I remember yelling out, "Chyna's a man!" and I swear she looked right at me, and I was in the middle seats! Once again I got to see the Undertaker and this time he won doing the Tombstone on Vader. Don't remember the rest.

I've only been to one live show at an arena and it was many moons ago (Bob Backlund was still champ then). Memories are a bit foggy but Backlund wrestled against someone I can't remember.Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka wrestled "The Crippler" Ray Stevens. Stevens was taken out on a stretcher after his defeat. The only other things I remember is Rocky Johnson being there (met him and got my picture taken with him) along with Afa and Sika.
About a year or 2 later the WWF did a show at my high school. My most vivid memory of it was one of the Moondogs and Lou Albano (I guess the other Moondog couldn't make the show) wrestling against Tony Garea and Rick Martel (I believe). Most of the other matches are a haze for some reason (except they had a bunch of midget wrestlers on the card)

The last live event I went to was here in Panama City Beach at WCW's last Nitro. It was outside on the beach and there might have been 500 people there. Not a big crowd at all but I knew Shane would be there because earlier in the day one of my friends saw him at a restaurant. And earlier in the day Booker T stopped by the radio station I worked at but he was gone before I got to work.
The biggest event I ever attended was Wrestlemania 3. Yep, I was there and it was truly awesome. Back before the internet days so at the end of the night I called home to Tennessee with the recap for my friends at school. We had good seats too. Not ring side but first level 50 yardline-ish area. Still a good ways away from the ring but close enough to see everything. And I don't know if it was 93,000 or not but it was crowded. I drove back to Pontiac in 1989 to see The Who at the Silverdome and there were 70,000 people there. I remembered Mania having even more than that.

I've been to several live shows. The first time I went, Hogan was the champ and the British Bulldogs were on the card. Some wrestler couldn't make it and Bobby Heenan(!) actually wrestled. This was shocking to me because I only knew him as a manager and not a wrestler.
I saw a WCW house show during 1998 and Goldberg did a run in on Nash and Hall. This was long before Goldberg took on the NWO.
I saw a ROH show last winter and it was great. The crowd was very in to it and the wrestling was superb. I wish they would come back to Pittsburgh.
I've seen some smaller time shows as well. Here in Pittsburgh there are several small promotions that run frequent shows and those are always a really fun time to go to. Unbelievably, one of the attorneys from my firm moonlights as a wrestler! We discovered this quite by accident when we saw him wrestling at a local show. We cornered him at the Christmas party and he swore us to secrecy. Ha!
Four of us from my firm are getting together for Wrestlemania on Sunday as we always do. We will watch the 1991 Clash Of The Champions first and then 'Mania. We pick all the match winners beforehand and the person with the most correct picks at the end of the night wins the Golden Sheik - aka an Iron Sheik action figure spray painted gold.
The list of food for the event:
- Kevin Nash's Pulled BBQ Chicken Quad Sliders aka The Outsliders
- Alberto Doritos
- Polish Mistakes made from Ivan Putski's grandmother.
- For dessert, Bad News Brownies
Good times!

I've seen a couple WWE house shows, and then also a bunch of shows by a local promotion.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, yeah it's scripted but with the way these guys throw themselves around and at their opponents I'm surprised this doesn't happen more often. It may be scripted but the risks wrestlers take in the ring are very real.

Not surprised, he will get better pay with less work staying. Now does this mean Roman will lose? His reaction from the crowd has been lukewarm. Turning him from a monster that destroys all in his path and trying to make him seem more "human" has not worked like they thought.
A scenario that was running around is Paul Heyman turning on Brock and aligning with Reins. Reins failing as a face and making him heel might be good for him. If that happens, he needs a good mouthpiece. However, that would have worked best if Brock was leaving and now he's not.
They've spent so much time making Brock an unbeatable monster who broke Taker's streak. They risk throwing that away if he loses.
Will probably not be the match of the night, but it definitely is the most unpredictable.

The ending to WM was very well done. With Brock being part-time, keeping him champion doesn't make much sense. On the other hand Roman is certainly NOT ready to carry the title. Having Rollins cash in toward the end of the match making it a triple threat was a good decision. Because while Roman isn't ready, Rollins sure as hell is. The man can talk as well being a great talent in the ring. This also allows Brock to maintain his badass, unstoppable monster status without losing cleanly.

I'm bummed that Taker went over on Wyatt, but maybe we'll finally get our dream match with him and Sting next year.

Yeah, that and HHH beating Sting didn't make much sense to me. Also, did the Big Show really need to win the Andre The Giant battle royal? With all the up and coming talent that could benefit from that match, why give it to a man whose best days are long gone?

Terrible ending to Mania. I say this because it cost me the Golden Sheik award at our Wrestlemania party. I had Reigns winning for my pick and I was down by one point in the standings.

A really good show, I liked it. Sting vs HHH, who cares who wins? Neither guy needs it, and neither guy is a full-time wrestler. It was just to get a big match and a moment.
Wyatt probably should have gone over Taker, but then again, Undertaker got a great reaction and is still popular. They probably just wanted to make people happy. A feel good moment for the show. Especially with guys like Cena and Triple H winning, there's a chance you could tune out the crowd.
Big Show winning, I have no problem with either. Sandow already looked good, he didn't need to win. Big Show kind of, sort of makes sense for an Andre Royal. It's not like it's the Royal Rumble.
Daniel Bryan doesn't need the intercontinental belt. But maybe they wanted to avoid "We Want Bryan" chants in the main event. Now Bryan and his fans got their moment. And it's a funny situation now, with both mid-card belts held by two wrestlers who are more over than the world heavyweight champion.

[quote="mikeinfla"]Here's my prediction for Mania - Reigns VS Lesnar and Lesnar will WIN. 30 seconds after winning Rollins cashes in and wins the title. Lesnar leaves WWE without doing the job and hands the title off to Rollins when he cashes in which leads up to Rollins/Reigns. Book it![/quoted]

The marketing guys were all over the Rousey appearance. UFC president Dana White gets publicity for UFC and putting Rousey in with The Rock gets Furious 7 publicity.
Only problem is I wish Rousey would have put the arm bar on Steph for real; I can't stand that harpy.
And I think Ronda could legitimately kick the asses of at least a third of the WWE's roster in a legit fight. She's so badass!
