Who know dig this trio? It's one of the first Heavy Metal/Hard Rock band. Some of their song? Summertime Blues (Is it a cover?), Out of Focus, Rock Me Baby, Boney Maroney. I think they were playing in the 60s. I don't know a lot 'bout them.

Yes, Summertime Blues is a cover. Rockabilly artist Eddie Cochran originally performed it back in the 50's. The Who did a pretty wicked version of this, as did Rush.

Their cover of SB is very good and much heavier than Eddie Cochrane's version, but I think I prefer Eddie's version, frankly. That is the only Blue Cheer song that I've ever heard.

This is a very under-rated band, but not for the reasons you might think. They were about the first to make their mark with pure, un-adulterated VOLUME; and they have to be given thier metal respect for that. However their reperetoire was pretty much identical to that of Cactus and a bunch of other bands. Just super loud blues that doesn't hold up all that well anymore IMO. Here's the thing though. After they were caught and passed by many others in the volume department, they made several more albums that I think were of very high quality. "The Original Human Being" is my fave. It rocks about half the time, but is obviously a product of party hardened, world weary, battle scarred professionals. If you ever see the sleeve, LOOK at their EYES! A picture is worth 1000 words. Of course they alienated their core audience by toning down the volume, but their later stuff is still high quality rock.

Tt's cool you are looking into old geezers. I'm sure Blue Cheer is something Gene, Paul & Ace listened to as teenagers.

They may not be metal as we know it now but they laid the foundation for what would soon become metal with Sabbath taking what they were doing to the next level.

Their 1984 album (the beast is back) sounds similar to what Twisted Sister was doing around the same time (You Can't Stop...). And the vocals are very similar to Dee Snider as well.
Blue Cheer kick ass! The coolest god-awful band ever. So what if they couldn't play their instruments, they still flat out ROCKED.

I have to agree with this statement, those first two albums, 'Vincebus Erptum' 'Outside/Inside' where considered the heaviest albums til Sabbath and Purple came along.

Up there no doubt but for pure volume junkies that obliterated speakers in the 60's you cant go past a little unheralded record out of the UK called Sea Shanties by High Tide that came out in '69 (The "Heaviest" record in terms of sheer volume out of the 60's imo). Not even the Stooges or MC5 debuts can compete with it's full on guitar savagery.
A howling art damaged mess of "Heavy Metal"............
