Hell yeah! Just ordered the new Steepwater Band album, Clava, which became available today. I know I've praised these guys here in the past (to little response, sadly), but I'll continue to do so. Because they rule!
New video:
Be cool and check them out: http://www.steepwater.com/home.html
And no, that's unfortunately not Mitch Hedberg on vocals.

Admittedly I usually take your reviews with a grain of salt, Eyesore, but this one sounds pretty cool. I could listen to more of this. And yea, he does look like Mitch.
Is this one tune a pretty good representation of their overall sparse guitar/bass/drum sound?

Pretty much. They've got some that rock a bit more, some that are more bluesy, but yeah, that song is a good representation of them.

You have a much broader taste in music than I. I see your purchases and playlists and know that I wouldn't touch a third of your collection with a 10 foot dildo. That's my shortcoming. You like what you like, I like what I like.
So with that in mind, stuff that you label as "killer" might be in your opinion, but you throw that phrase around allot on musicial styles that I wouldn't listen to ever. You'd label every note of Devin Towsend's music as killer, but I have yet to hear anything from him that I don't consider unlistenable noise. And that's fine. I don't have a problem with that or you. It's just different tastes.

Looks like between albums, eps & live, they've got about 11 releases out. I've got my work cut out for me if I'm gonna test the waters here. Gonna have to start selling my blood again.

Well, yeah. I'm a bit excitable when it comes to music, and I seem to use the same adjectives over and over again. Haha. I was worried you were insinuating, like others have, that I care more about having a big collection than actually enjoying the music in it. Because that's totally not true, of course.
Anyway, have you listened to Devin's solo stuff? "Unlistenable noise" is something I could see people calling the Strapping Young Lad material, but not really his solo stuff.

I can toss together a comp upload, if you want.

Not 100% sure, but I'd guess it was probably SYL. I recall lotsa noise and screaming bloody murder. And if I didn't care for that, I'm sure I wouldn't give his solo stuff a chance. See how close-minded I am. I've played some clips that have been posted, but it's just not my cuppa java.

Eh, we're all passionate about music to different degrees, otherwise what are we doing here?
You wanna upload a comp, I certainly wouldn't object to it.

Right, so here's a little mix of stuff. Sixteen tracks that should be a good representation of their catalog.

I gotta give it more spins. Some tunes I liked, some others sounded a little more "country/folky" which I can take or leave. Not sure that anything grabbed me just yet that I need to purchase an album, but time will tell.
The problem at the moment is that I'm temporarily in the main office at work while construction is beng done in my normal work area. Been here all summer so far with another 2 or 3 weeks to go and it sucks. I have to listen to music really low or with headphones (which presents other problems). I like my rock loud. I should burn the tunes to a cd and listen to them in my car.

They definitely get a little folk-country at times.

Nothing wrong with that if it's done right. I just gotta be in the right mood for it though.

Holiday sale. They've got a number of their albums on sale for $4.99. That's a killer price!

Clip from their upcoming live CD/DVD.
I've been wanting to see these guys live for years now, but they never came close to MA or even the east coast. Until last month. They played 25 minutes away on October 11, but the arrival of our firstborn on October 4 kind of ruined that. Haha.
Guess a live album will have to hold me over. The jam at the end of the clip above is excellent.

These fellas have a greatest hits thingy coming out. It includes one new song and a re-recording of "Hard As Stone," which is odd because they've already done two versions of it.
Either way, might be a good place to start if you're interested.

New video for one of the new tunes on their recently released best-of album (really the only new new song since the other is a re-recording, of which they already had two versions).
