This was from an earlier uptade, but I saw it only recently:
Quote :
Before listening to a note of this CD, I pondered the name of the band and wondered why they would call themselves, Space Eater. On second look I realized it was Space Eater, which is an even more bizarre name.
Also, will you get any Toto in the future? I'd recommend Hydra, pretty good proggy melodic hard rock...

First like in the American Soldier review:
Quote :
With Queensryche's tenth studio album the band (or more likely vocalist Geoff Tate) decided record another conceptual album

I doubt Toto would be up Ults alley except maybe the first few albums (like the one you mentioned), also the later albums are probably their best material and may actaully suprise people.

I have Toto's debut on vinyl. Don't have it on CD to review. May get around to reviewing the vinyl. I like that album. Haven't heard any others that I recall.

The last one they did (Falling in Between) was REALLY good!

I agree. I've always said if somone doesn't like 80s Toto should really give later Toto a try because they wrote their best music in later years.

I know, I wouldn't recommend him their 80s AOR/ pop-rock albums either, although, he does seem to like some poppier stuff like Phil Collins, so you never know...
BTW, Ult, what other albums do you own that you haven't reviewed yet? I remember you said you had a couple of Poison CDs you didn't review yet in the last thread...

I don't know all I have unreviewed, but I do have some CDs from Vixen, Living Colour, Sammy Hagar, Pat Benetar, Phil Collins, Hardline, Poison, Fiona, Bonfire, Saliva, Static X, Lacuna Coil, Rob Zombie, Bon Jovi, etc. Some of these I am working on reviews for. Others I just cannot get into at all, like the last five of so I listed. I really try to give everything a fair spin. In that past I've missed out on some great music because of pre-conceived ideas and prejudices. I never gave a band like Warrant a second thought in the past because I just chalked them up to "Cherry Pie" wuss-rock. Had I not given them a chance I wouldn't have discovered that there is much more to them than that one sappy pop rock song.

I done caught me a goof, yo:
From the "Creatures of the Night Facts" page:
Quote :
It's My Life and When The Legend Dies, two tracks written for Creatures
I believe that should be "Legends Never Die," not "When the Legend Dies"

I now have "Toto" and "The Seventh One" on CD. I'll probably start by reviewing the self-titled.

If you ever find them on the cheap, check out the stuff from the 90s early 00s. They might have been the epitome of pop in the 80s but they really matured once the pop rock craze died out and they became a solid AOR (bordering on melodic hard rock) band.
