How is that VoA album?



I doubt I'll pick it up since I'm just not into that style anymore but there was a time when I thought they were the second coming of Nightwish.

Yeah, I'm a huge fan of her Sam Phillips era. It's much better and less commercial. Her first album (the one pictured) is actually not very good. But I bring myself to play it every now and again ... simply because of how huge of a fan I am overall. I can actually see the blueprint for her later work in this one - which is it's only redeemable factor. About half the songs are good. The rest are total pop filler ... CCM style.

It's good, not quite up to the caliber of Trinity but better than most of the female-fronted goth metal (though the male vocalist takes up a lot of the singing duties). Who knows, several years in the future you might want to give this style another try. If you do, you could do a lot worse than this one. Of course I think this style is also running it's course with me, but that has less to do with it getting old, and more with the quality of the bands thinning out (just like Euro-power metal).
