| Last week, I picked up a used copy of Redd Kross' Phaseshifter. While I had heard of this band, I never actually heard the music, so for $2 bucks I thought I'd give 'em a shot. It's a thoroughly enjoyable cd. The song 'Monolith' is the best tune Cheap Trick never recorded. Overall a very good power-pop cd. Where does this cd fall in line with the rest of their catalog? Is it a fan favorite or a dog? Is it indicative of their overall sound or a complete departure from their other material? Looks like most of their short discography is fairly cheap on Amazon, but before I induldge, is their any cds I should look for first or ones I should completely avoid? Any comments, good bad or indifferent, are welcome. Except for Eyesore. Telling me all their albums are "killer" and I should get them all doesn't help me. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| I bought Phaseshifter after reading a glowing review in RIP magazine years ago. I really like it. The only other one I have is Show World and the only thing I remember about it is that I didn't like it nearly as much as Phaseshifter. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Phaseshifter is very much in a Cheap Trick vein. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Is Show World not as Cheap Trick-ish as Phaseshifter? From what I've read about them, their earlier works are more punk-ish and they got more melodious (is that a word?) as they developed. Shiney, these guys seem like they'd be right up your alley. What say you? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | I seem to remember hearing a pretty decent cover of KISS' "Deuce" by these guys but that's about all. Yeah, I know, I'm not helpful in the slightest. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Shiney, these guys seem like they'd be right up your alley. What say you? You are correct; they used to be much more punk. As I recall, Show World just didn't have the same catchy melodies that Phaseshifter did. Maybe I'll dig that one out again since I don't remember much about it.

| They are a very talented pair thats for sure! I have several releases and they hold up real well.
If you have ever seen the movie "The Spirit Of 76", they star in it and of course play some tunes as well. The film is a hoot and I believe most here would appreciate it.

Good call, jstate. Third Eye came in today's mail. Another dinger. These guys are 2-for-2 in my book. Any band that references 'Planet of the Apes' in a song [Zira Call Out My Name] is A-OK in my book. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Listening to Third Eye today and on the song '1976' (a tribute to the 70's), there's some background vocals that sound like Paul Stanley. If it's not him, someone in the band does a spot-on impression. Anyone know if it's him? EDIT: ***Fun Fact*** When you type in the name 'PAUL STANLEY' in Google, the 1st match (after his name of course) is 'PAUL STANLEY G A Y' _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | So these guys did the "reuniting" thing and put out a new album...Researching the Blues. The clips sound pretty promising if you like their mid-period Cheap Trick-era.

I'm listeing to Show World right now and enjoying it thoroughly. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Bumping again.
Been listening to Third Eye this week. Such a catchy album. The song 'Bubble Gum Factory' gets stuck in my head for days.
It also reminds me that I need to pick up their last one ASAP. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| Their latest is really good. Hard not to think any fan of their stuff wouldn't love it. It's a frequent player for me. I believe they recorded it on their own dime/time so it has a real fun and loose feel to it. | |
