Van Halen will announce a 50-date American reunion tour with original singer David Lee Roth during a news conference in Hollywood next week, sources said.

The arena trek will begin in early October.

Roth, who split from the rock group in the mid-1980s in hopes of solo stardom, will reunite with co-founders Eddie Van Halen on guitar and brother Alex Van Halen on drums. Eddie's teenage son Wolfgang will sub for Michael Anthony on bass.

A proposed summer amphitheater tour by the group never got off the ground, with Eddie Van Halen entering a rehabilitation facility for undisclosed reasons in March. In the months since, the guitarist has been seen publicly looking healthy and fit. Van Halen last toured in 2004, with Roth's replacement, vocalist Sammy Hagar, grossing nearly $40 million, according to Billboard Boxscore. Reuters/Billboard

Watch for another cancellation.

I'd rather check out Mike Anthony's new band "Mad Anthony Express". Mike will be singing lead vocals doing his version of early VH classics. Not to mention his tickets will be a fraction of what Eddie and family will be charging.

I work at the local arena in Philly and I was in a staff meeting when the event coordinators announced upcoming tours coming to our building. Van Halen was one and AC/DC was another. No definitive dates were given yet, but they have the building booked.

I'll believe it when I see it.

Yeah....im sure something will happen between now and october to screw it up----hopefully not though.

We have the satellite feed live right now at work. The tour announcement is coming up in about 10 minutes.

As expected, Dave is rambling like a mad-man, spouting off and avoiding answering any direct questions.

Tour kicks off on Sept. 27th in Charlotte NC. Tour is expected to end on Sept. 28th.

Has Eddie always been that short? Haha. I wonder if Dave's ego will be kept in check? Same goes for Eddie's addictions. He looks healthier, though.

EDIT: 4 minutes into the press conference...not sure Dave's ego can be kept in check. He hasn't shut up for the entire thing so far, and his mic is way louder than everyone else's.

Heard the Toronto show show sold out in mins so they added a 2nd show. Can't quite understand why they aren't stopping in Fargo, ND? Oh yeah most are clueless to where Fargo is!

They've added a 2nd show in Philly as well. And ticket prices are kinda reasonable. You could get tickets for $49 bucks, which in this day and age ain't bad. I think the highest was $150, which is too rich for my blood, but still not ridiculous.

Just read on-line that the fated on again, off again reunion tour is CANCELLED....AGAIN!!! LOL!

Where did you hear this?

I've read it on a few discussion boards. I'll have to see if there is an official announcment or not. However, the last time the tour was cancelled, these boards seemed to have the news before it was official as well.
