I never "hated" them per se, always liked Breakfast In America, but I never really "got" them till I was older. Same thing with Steely Dan. Loved the singles, didn't really know the albums that well, but when I got older it all took on an added dimension.

Yep. Steely Dan is another one on my list as well. Although with The Dan, I always liked their earlier stuff but hated the jazzier albums like Aja or Goucho. Now I like it all.

I rediscovered Dan after my "forced jazz training camp", it was Aja and Gaucho that helped provide the doorway backwards into the rest of their catalog.

Granted, probably not the route most people take, but it worked for me.
