Here be a killer band!
They were a random $5 buy for me through CD Baby last year or so. That album was The Hand of Chaos, and it's still $5 (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/admiralofblack). Buy it, because it's killer!
Just got an e-mail saying they had a new album out, so I thought it fitting to post about them. That album is called Blood & Fire (http://www.cdbaby.com/cd/admiralofblack2). Not $5, but I'll be buying it soon.

When they were younger, they were called Corporal Grey.

Sounds OK and competent but I wouldn't describe any aspect of it as "killer" except for the price.

Sounds pretty sweet. I could listen to this.
The toughest part for me is to now find 2 other discs from cdbaby for the $5 dealy-o. I haven't found anything there in a loooong time.

I haven't, but I will. I need to make a $5 order again someday soon.
And there's plenty of great $5 albums there. Tons of stuff from Perris Records, there's two Dirty Looks albums there for 5 beans. I could list tons!

Oh, I know YOU could find tons of stuff. I'm not nearly as open-minded musically as you. This I know. Plus, I'm trying to be a little more selective with what I purchase these days. I'm sure if I took the time I could find 2 other discs. I'm not looking to do much blind buying. I want to know what I'm getting, if that makes sense.
The problem with some (and not all, mind you. I've found some gems there too) of those $5 cd's I've purchased in the past is that they don't have much staying power. After the newness wears off, I found that there was a reason that those discs were in the cut-out bin. They lacked a certain something that kept them from being in the regular rotation.

Most of those are just a handful of what I have on my Wish List there. Haha. Stone Crusher is a really great local band.

I'll have to take a listen when I get a chance. I've checked out The Stoned before because of the Kory Clark connection. I recently got rid of a coupla Eidolon discs though.

Totally unrelated, but...Perris Records is distributing their stuff via CDBaby now? Neat-O. When did that start?
Noticed it a while back. They have a ton of albums in that $5 section. You just have to search for them. Wish you could search by label.
Yeah, I was hoping maybe that Babylon A.D./Persuaders demos album they released might be in the $5 bin. No such luck.
Right? I still need that one, too.

Thats what I've experienced. The last 15 I got from that sale, only 4 get repeat listens from me. The others weren't bad (none unlistenable) and I will probably give them a listen at a later date. My last haul of CDs will keep me busy for a while.

Well, after much deliberation and listening of samples, I've placed an order from CD Baby for the first time in loooooong time (03.10.08 according to my account history). I got this Admiral of Black album coming, along with 4 others from the $5 bin. Hope they have some staying power!
