Tarot?

I just traded for this. I really like some of the songs, even though it's very dark. Reminds me of that 90's Tad Morose or Veni Domine heavy, gloomy progressive sound that I like so much. The one I have is "Suffer Our Pleasures", but they've been around forever. I've never followed them though. Can anyone fill me in on the evolution of their sound, or make further recommendations?

"Wings of Darkness" is a great song by them.

Amazing band! I think Suffer Our Pleasures is their most modern-sounding album. Still, if you don't get pumped over songs like "Undead Son" and "Pyre Of Gods" you're nuts! =) Anyway, for a long time I thought that was their only album, then I discovered they've been around since 1986! Crazy.

Their earlier albums are more traditional 80s metal in style, even bordering on 80s rock sometimes. Outstanding stuff. Their first five studio albums and lone live album were reissued last year, all remastered, and with bonus tracks. Definitely worth picking up. I bought my copies from lasercd.com (Sensory). They also released a new studio album, which is awesome! I highly recommend them.

I think Marco Hietala's vocals are wicked underrated. Totally unique, too. And you gotta love those early videos! Hahaha.

And I included the "Pyre Of Gods" video in case anyone else is curious.

I don't have a huge amount of experience with them, but I love what I know of Tarot. Whilst Angels of Pain as an album seemed a little average, their later stuff seems fantastic. I think Marco has a great voice, which whilst used well in Nightwish, really shines in Tarot.

You wouldn't expect him to have such a great mellow voice but wow.

I have some video clips by the band and some of their early releases on vinyl. Not a fan but they had some great songs. Dont care about 90s or today TAROT.

He was a great addition to Nightwish, too!

And they don't have an album called Angel of Pain. That's a song on Stigmata; and I agree, it's probably their weakest album. Still very good, though.

Their last cd is great as hell!

My mistake Eyesore, I thought I might have had the album name wrong. Angels of Pain however was definitely one of the better tracks on Stigmata.

There's actually no real bad songs; the album is just sort of subtle and a bit more mid-paced than most of their albums. There's no "barn-burners," so to speak.

I just remember listening to it and not disliking it, but not really enjoying it a huge amount. Angels of Pain was the only song I really liked due to it's chorus. But yes, I agree, it's not a bad album by any stretch.

The only one I've ever had was Suffer Our Pleasures. Good cd, but I traded it off to Scott on la-la.

I just got Crows Fly Black and it's very good!

The more I listen to this = WOW! Good stuff. Very talented, well produced. Everyone and the vocalist handle their parts well. Catchy, melodic, edgy!!

I just recently got Crows Fly Black and dig it! I hope to get their newest disc soon! Can't wait to see 'em in September! I love Marco's vocals!
