Power & Fight are the two weakest in my mind, however any of the 5 above them could change places at any time among one another.

Much like King's X, I never got what all the fuss was about this band. Probably since I wasn't there from the beginning. Good, talented bunch, but not God's gift to metal as some seem to think.

When I did the Savatage Discography thread some time ago, I believe I tried to rank the albums in order of preference but after a while my head was about ready to explode. So in the end I decided STREETS was #1, FIGHT FOR THE ROCK was at the bottom, and everything in between varied in degrees of awesomeness.

I prefer Zak over Jon but I still like both. Never understood the hate for Zak Stevens but to each his own.

Zak sounds dull, lifeless and unconvincing to me. Always trying to stretch for those "metal moments" and failing miserably. When I first heard Edge Of Thorns I thought I was hearing a parody act do Savatage.

You probably wouldn't like my vocals then (I have a fairly similar lower register-though I could never reach the high end of his range). So you don't hate the man, but the voice. That's cool, we all hear things differently.

You're not the only one who thinks that, but us fans of that album tend to filter out complaints against it.

Yeah, it's just a preference thing really.

Regarding Streets. I think it's a good album, but I wonder if the band themselves would have come up with a rock opera concept for a followup to Gutter Ballet? I mean, I was one of the few people in my circle of friends that actually liked GB. Most of them thought it was a sellout, they wanted something heavy like Mountain King. They especially didn't like the keyboards.

But I loved GB, thought the addition of the piano made for a really unique sound at the time (not many metal bands with acoustic pianos in 1990). I thought GB walked that fine line between progressive rock and metal perfectly...but I felt that Streets tripped over that line in more of a "pomp" direction, "Broadway Metal" if you will.

When I bought a Savatage record, that was what I wanted...not Andrew Lloyd Webber.

But again, just an opinion...and probably colored by the fact I started listening to them when Dungeons came out.

I saw the "Streets" tour with Ray Gillen singing at Jezebel's in Santa Anna. When it came out, I was kinda/sorta Then when you put it with "Gutter Ballet" with the rest of the discography that followed. It makes sense and it has grown on me.

I had similar feelings towards "fight for the rock" being I had been listening since "sirens"
