| i just recently REALLY got into the doors. love them. ive done a lot of reading about jim morrison's life, as well as the band... and its really a great story.... too bad the movie screwed it up. the movie itself was a fine film, but was so far from the reality of jim and the band that its practicly a work of fiction. and i agree with the ealier posts, that on top of that, it was really a movie about jim. i was hoping the movie wasnt going to be what i thought it would be... but it was. a fictional account of jim morrison. |

| How so? While I believe Oliver Stone took some liberties w/the film, and left many aspects out of Jim's and The Doors lives, I don't think it was that far from reality. | |

| Stone made Jim look like a complete, incoherent fool. mumbling and stumbling the whole film. even the other members of the band said the film was a horrible representation of jim.
jim had lots of drug/alcohol problems, but thats not who he was. stone makes it look like he was spaced-out his whole life and some kind of anarchist.
one example is the sullivan show scene... thats a well documented performance that you can compare stone's version and the REAL version. its ridicules.
you can use that as a catalyst of how stone portrayed morrison and how he REALLY was.

| Ok, first off, all those people, including Patricia Kennealy, signed off on the film and got their money, then they critisized it! It was not a documentary, if you've read the books, Jim was a mess, he could no longer perform live by the time they were recording LA Woman! It was not fictional, a lot of those events happened as it was portrayed in that movie, Oliver was guilty of showing one aspect of Jim's life though. | |

| Denis Leary once said that we didn't need a two and a half hour movie about the Doors, cuz it could be summed up in three seconds: "I'm drunk, I'm nobody. I'm drunk, I'm famous. I'm drunk, I'm dead." _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Now that's rediculous, Jim was one of the most talented, intellegent and chrasmatic figures in rock history! | |

Now that's rediculous, Jim was one of the most talented, intelligent and chrasmatic figures in rock history! Well, Denis Leary is a wise-ass. Besides, I think he was commenting more about the movie itself, than about the real Jim Morrison. If you watch the movie, it DOES kinda follow that three-act pattern. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

they all signed off on it... doesnt mean that it was accurate. the movie is a good movie, dont get me wrong. the problem i have is that, for people that dont know any better, they see this movie and they think thats who jim really was. and thats not true. |

| Like me, I know who he was, but I know nothing of him. So I definately would be influenced. Haven't seen it yet. Same reason I haven't seen Johnny Cash with Phoenix. I love Cash, but i'm afraid what the movie will do to my "perceived" image of him! | |
