[quote="tohostudios"]But Kiss is overlooked again. I love these quotes:
[quote]A Heavy Metal Odyssey in Rural North Dakota author and longtime Kiss fan Chuck Klosterman tells Yahoo!. "Every year they get shut out, they're back in the news for not making it -- people will actually notice far less if they ever get inducted. Plus, being denied entry into the Hall of Fame advances the idea that Kiss exists outside the canon of critically sanctioned rock, and it perpetuates the idea that Kiss fans are unjustly persecuted for loving Kiss, which is central to the Kiss-fan identity. I hope they never get in.
Alot of this could also pertain to Rush and their exclusion from the RNRHOF as well.

.....How is this an uninspired list, one of the best the RnR hall of fame of thrown up in years!
Donovan, Dr. John, Laura Nyro, Joe Tex, Tom Waits, Chuck Willis...those I'll give you. Alice Cooper is an inspired choice of course (and should be a shoe-in if there is any justice).
But Donna Summer & Chic, really? I was "there" when that whole scene was happening, I was probably about 8 years old at the time, but I still thought it was lame.
Time to revisit i reckon.
Those acts transcend Disco or any tag you wanna give them, pioneers whose influence is massive in not just Electronica, House Music, Hip Hop and R&B but also Rock as well.
Nile Rodgers was one of the tightest rhythm guitarists you'll ever hear, go listen to the Cest Chic or Risque albums. Then you had Bernard Edwards laying down these insanely catchy bass lines. They just went after and nailed their unique rhythm, they were like the Meters with synth lines! They were one of the few acts from that era of music who put together great albums as opposed to banging out singles and nothing much else, of which they had plenty of great singles.
If they induct Summer they should induct her producer Giorgio Moroder who was responsible for her Krautrock (Think Kraftwerk) meets Soul sound. She should get in on "I Feel Love" alone, one of the most influential songs of the past 30 odd years, one of those songs that spawns musical genres left right and center. Brian Eno famously said to David Bowie it was the sound of the next 15 years upon release. He didn't go far enough, we're up to 33 years and still counting........

Donna Summer's "Love to Love You Baby" is probably responsible for just as many child conceptions as anything by Barry White.

I have a Klaus Schulze album that has that same Donna Summer vibe, Body Love is the it and the song that comes to mind is Stardancer.
Also:
Chic + Japan = Duran Duran

Yeah Body Love has a Morodor/Summer vibe about it, plus its a porn soundtrack and Summer's "I Feel Love" single is basically sex on wax. Nice comparison!
No doubt Giorgio Morodor had an ear bent towards that more purely electronic strain of 70's Krautrock like Klaus Schulze, Tangerine Dream, Kraftwerk etc. Add Summer's voice over the top of that music and you have modern dance music.
Spot on about Duran Duran btw.

It's about time AC got a nomination, hopefully him and the original band get in. I could care less about ol BJ there, but you know those slippery pretty boys will probably end up in.

I like Bon Jovi but if they get in the Hall before KISS, Judas Priest and Deep Purple, bands that Rolling Bore Magazine even admits had a huge impact on rock music then this just validates how moronic these peps are.

Bon Jovi has a Greatest Hits cd coming out in November and presumably will be out doing publicity for it. So being inducted to the HoF would be a perfect opportunity to get some free promotion for it. Not to mention the fact that looking at that list of nominees, Bon Jovi is easily the most current and relevent act that is still filling stadiums and selling records, so it's a slam dunk for tv ratings.
I'd bet the farm that they get in.

It's good that Alice has finally gotten the nod, not that The Hall of Shame deserves any faith bestowed into it.

The R n R Hall of Fame encompasses way too much. It should just be called the Music Hall of Fame.

Good question mr electric, not to mention KISS, speaking of which is the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame ever going to acknowledge bands such as Slade, T. Rex, Mott the Hopple that were a huge influence but in the States (where the hall is located) failed to make a huge commercial impact?
