| I don't think I've seen too many people on here talk about this band. Does anyone like them or what? Since I started listening to them a few years ago I have been blown away with most of their releases. I really like the music mixed with the orchestral stuff. I think these guys have perfected it. They have a new album coming out next month and I heard the new single Gateways thats on itunes and I really liked that.
Theres only 2 main guys in the band and they weren't going to reveal who the new members were until yesturday it was revealed that Snowy Shaw was the new bass player and that he had played on the album and would be touring with them as well. Snowy just left Therion a few months back which led everyone to believe that he joined Dimmu even though he himself denied it. So after he said he was in the band as of yesturday, he is now out of the band and back with Therion.
This guy is one of my favorite drummers. Not only because he is great at playing drums but he can play guitar, bass and sing. He's been in and out of so many bands too which makes it a pain in the ass to follow what he does, but usually I end up liking everything he's involved in. I just wish he would stay in one place for longer than an album or 2. What a strange guy. _________________

| Shagrath is mediocre composer but very talented businessman, and that's what has kept Dimmu going. They've been exploring Nagash's heritage since 1999, but as seen on Sorte Diaboli it started to run dry, so new blood was badly needed.
Snowy was a logical choice for a hired gun, albeit quite temporarily, given his bohemic nature and fly-by attitude. Nevertheless, Shagrath probably managed to suck him dry of some ideas which we'll hear on the new album.
Dimmu are big band with solid label support, so they should not have big problems finding a good composer for their next ventures.
I'm sort of hoping to see Nagash back, but I doubt it could work as before.

| As always you've got it right sir. in the black metal genre Dimmu is what Nightwish is for the power metal - a big pink fluffy cotton-candy. Kids love it, however, so you always end shelving some cash for it. | |

| The first album (the original mix) is fantastic. Can't say I have heard anything more than that. |

| I can't really voice an opinion on their catalog, since I don't own any of their cds. I did catch them live at an Ozzfest some years ago. They didn't do anything for me, though. | |
