Do I Need HELP??

The only band I tend to buy almost everything of is The Wildhearts, but that's because their B-sides are as good as their album tracks, if not occasionally better. I also own most, if not everything, Andrew W.K. has released on CD because it's awesome. Oh, and the same applies to Extreme.

Yeah, I try to stay clear of the obvious collector cash-grabs. I foolishly almost bought a Kix umbrella from their site. Only to quickly come to my senses that I 1) Live in a desert 2) I've probably only ever used an umbrella a few times in my life.

I had a similiar situation with all things Simpsons related, although it wasn't my doing.

I love the TV show. One of my favorites, hands down. My family and relatives started to take my love of the program to mean that I wanted any kind of Simpsons trinket, board game, shot glass, etc. they could find. I didn't. I eventually had to tell people "Please stop buying me Simpsons boxer shorts and Homer slippers every Christmas". What fun is having a Simpsons Trivia board game when noone wants to play it with you becasue you know all the answers?

This is how I've had to be lately..... especially when I am still in my Italian 70's Prog bands collecting phase. Before I would go crazy... I've got to get this now!!!!! Now, I can wait, but if something does catch my eye, I will hunt it down like shark smelling blood(like recently when I was looking for some obscure late 80's American Prog from the bands Fragile Glass [who unexpectedly sounded like Audio Visions thru Drastic Measures Kansas] and System Seven). I try to make that happen far and few between now.

my mother in law was that way with Taz. I like Taz and everything she got me was taz related in some way...

I can relate-I've collected Action Figures (G.I. Joe, Superheroes (Marvel AND D.C.) Starwars) comic books & metal cds. Dolls,(that's what they are) I collect casually,occasionaly springing for the flea market rip-off,same with comics.I've become a downloading fiend the last couple years. Now, I only buy a cd if I absolutely love it or it's a collectible-I just spent 60$ on an original VIolent Playground "Thrashin Blues" disc from '88. The whole point is to have fun-you want to see some real OCD check the forums out on this site :

BTW I was obsessed by labels too, not just certain bands. Now I don't care about completing labels anymore.

When I still lived with my parents (until last year) pretty much all my money went to either records or beer, so then I could afford wasting all my money on collectible stuff. That way I built up a formidable Sabbat collection. Now I simply don't have the money to pay for every record I'd like to have.

I once felt the need to own everything by a bands I followed but now I only collect CD's, I usually include only studio and live albums, and usually include one comp CD, maybe more if there is a track that has been added that is unavailable anywhere else, but usually I wait til the album is dirt cheap.

What I won't do is rebuy the same album that has been reissued with bonus tracks and bonus discs, at one time I would have been gung hu to replace my CD's to newer CD's with all bells and whistles but I do not wish to keep buying the same disc over and over again.

One thing that has curtailed a lot of my impulsiveness of buying is the strange occurrence of always finding it much cheaper some place else later on. I swear sometimes it seems like a conspiracy to drive me insane. And it always is on the harder to find stuff too. It gets to the point that I'll buy something online and my first thought is "watch it'll turn up now for half the price at one of my music haunts".

I tend to not obsess about getting the live or greatest hits albums. Only if they're found dirt cheap.

Too right man that sucks. That just happened to me..I searched high and low for a copy of Saxon's-Unleash The Beast on vinyl. It is only available on Night of the Vinyl Dead very limited to 333 copies. Well I found a copy and now Back On Black is going to release all the Saxon albums next year on 180G vinyl

I have a problem wanting the shirts. I just got a ton of stuff from Black Label Society.

But you can't go wrong with BLS

Yeah BLS has nice shirts that happen to be on sale so I went a bit crazy. I think if I wore one shirt a day, It would take me two months to wear them all.

I buy anything released by a band i like, from tapes, records, singles, tour books, etc...EVERYTHING and dont feel bad about it
