New CD rack!

Ok so I ran out of space for my cds plus I have others in storage I can now rack them finally. I made this new CD yesterday and today. This should hold about 1000 cds but the top of it I a bit bigger to hold all my music DVDs. In all with materials total cost was about $50. If you have the right tools you can easily make this!

That rack holds 800 and I thought that would have taken care of all what remaining cds I had to rack but it did not. I have to make another one probably next weekend and this time all the materials are free from work. I'm using maple this time that was pine in the pic.

do you mount the racks to the wall or leave them freestanding?

I mount them to the wall otherwise if on the floor they are to low and it makes it hard for me to get up ha ha!

Yup the very top one can hold dvds. I made especially for them where as the rest only hold cds.

That new rack is 5x5 but all 4 I have are of different dimensions. I'm making another one this weekend made out of maple and that will be 4x4 and slightly taller so all shelfs are able to hold DVDS as well! The reason 4x4 works best is the backing I use is 4x8 sheets so I can 2 pieces out of 1 sheet
