Eric was bad-ass. To this day, he's the only drummer I've seen live whose drum solo was NOT an excuse to go hit the men's room or snack bar.
The one and only time I saw him with KISS was the last show of the HOT IN THE SHADE tour in 1990. He passed away about a year later, and I realized that in addition to it being the last show of that tour, it was also Eric's last show ever. Kind of an odd feeling.

Eric Carr IMO was the best drummer KISS ever had, no disrecept to either Peter Criss or Eric Singer, Singer is especially talented drummer, but the man was great and never got his props during his lifetime when he was KISS.

Even in death he was largely ignored, as his death was trumped by the passing of Freddy Mercury.

I remember when Rolling Stone magazine ran a big tribute to Mercury after his passing but didn't even mention Eric Carr (who died the same day), KISS wrote them an angry letter about it. I forget exactly what it said but they basically tore RS a new a-hole.

Rolling Stone magazine unit recently acted as metal musicians where lowbrow cavemen, they rightfully praised Freddie Mercury, which was ironic considering that for years they did nothing but slag Queen.
To ignore Eric Carr's death was b.s., during Eric Carr's time with the band they rebounded commerically and had a number of platinum albums, now adays of course Rolling Stone staff of writers not only do they now praise metal music but have even begin to show respect for some its artists, including a nice write up when Ronnie James Dio passed away, again ironic since they spent most of Dio's career slamming his music also.

Eric Carr were best, Singer is good at this point. Carr had charisma and love fans. Erci's death in the shadow of Mercury's death.

Peter Criss got busy the first few years of KISS. With success came sloppiness and same philosophy that Lars Ulrich adopted, I am rich and famous so why practice, too much partyin' to do. It showed in his playing.
Eric Singer has lots of ability but is like a wind up toy.
Eric Carr was really never given full rein to showcase his drumming talent & ability in KISS. Met him once and talked with for quite awhile at a King's X show in So. Calif. at Jezebel's. Like everyone says, very down to earth and appreciates fans. Fans of Kiss and fans of music in general.
RIP

Can't really add anything that hasn't been said. He was my favorite KISS drummer and I was fortunate enough to see him numerous times.
