Like many of my generation, I love The Neverending Story, one of my favorite childhood movies. I also like the song by the same name even though it's cheesy 80s synth pop. After seeing the movie after more than a decade a few years ago I decided to download the song. While listening to the song I could really hear that the song would make a great Euro-power metal song (I could practically hear the galloping rhythm guitars). I remember thinking that if I get in a band I could do a cover of it to that fact. Wouldn't you know it, Dragonland beat me to it. I tried to find the album it was with but nothing availiable on Amazon had it (even the imports). I forgot about it until recently and went to see if I could find something like a video. Even better, I found a download of it and have been listening to it off and on ever since (apart from the ocean sounds and the keybaords, it's the exact same version I came up with in my mind). I thought I'd share it on here for those who never heard it or even the band responsible for it.

yeah, that was cool. 'The Neverending Story' rules, every kid should see it, IMO. I'm pretty sure the Dragonland version is on some edition of 'Holy War', just don't know which one. Speaking of that band, the new stuff is not sounding too hot. Disappointing coming off of 'Astronomy'.

I only have Holy War and Starfall so I wouldn't know, but it sounds like I should check out Astronomy.

Yes, it is a bonus track on the Japanese pressing of Holy War.
I think I prefer the original. Dragonland's version sounds too rushed up and mechanical. Like they tried to see how fast it could go all the way. Dragonforce must be jealous

I don't think so. If you listen to the melody itself, its not that much faster than the original, maybe a couple of clicks but that's it. What they've done is play the accompaniment in much faster note values, at the sixteenth note level!

Note values can be shorter, not faster, which result in faster tempo. The effect is the same - the beat is way faster and the song flattens with no space to breathe. In my opinion anyway.
