| Ok everyone calm down, calm down. Yes I am going away this Thursday but I'll be back some time on Tuesday. I'll try to get in one last Mercyful Fate/King Diamond post before I leave. Anyway the girlfriend and I are going up to Diggmans Ferry in PA with 2 of her friends to some cabin they own. My luck it will right near Camp Crystal Lake, We all know what happened there haha. I'll just make sure theres no retarted kids around and if so If I see them drowning in the lake I'll be the first to save him, because I really don't feel like going through all the BS of getting hacked to death on my vacation. I rarely go anywhere as it is. So I'd rather save that stuff for when I'm home atleast, ya know? Anyway I'm really just babbling on here and most of you probably don't even read this part and skip to the bottom where theres a question mark. So here comes the question. If you were to make some mix cds to take away with you on vacation in the woods, what would you put on those cds? Mind you I don't want any death metal! I want a good mix of songs in the rock, hard rock, metal area. Nothing too crazy, I drive my gf crazy enough as it is haha. _________________ | |

| Stryper, Maiden, and Megadeth. Maybe a bit of folk metal for a woodsy feel. | |

| Bon Scott-era AC/DC is always a good time. Anything up to Highway To Hell. And maybe avoid 'Night Prowler', especially around the camp fire.
Cheap Trick is usually gender-safe, meaning chicks can dig it as well as most guys. Early stuff is classic and latter stuff, while mybe not as popular, is good time fun. Avoid their 80's material. They kinda lost their direction.
Avoid Stryper at all costs. If you go the stoner route, try Fu Manchu. Thick, meaty guitars and lyrics that don't get much deepr than muscle cars, surfing and catching a buzz. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

| if *I* was going on a vacation? and no death metal (no growling vocals I assume this means)?
hmm..
no growlies, that would suck some for me right now..
but otherwise, right now they would include these (band/song):
Winterborn - Seven Deadly Sins Winterborn - Overture 1939/The Winter War Winterborn - Another World Winterborn - On The Edge of Eternity Winterborn - Coming Home Falconer - The Trail of Flames Falconer - Under The Sword Falconer - The Sceptre of Deception Boris - Amplifer Worship (album, just works better as an album) Mamoru Fujieda - Patterns of Plants II (something much calmer, again, full album though) Rage - Between The Lines Rage - Don't Fear The Winter Rage - Perfect Man Rage - Without A Trace Rage - Distant Voices Enigma - Seven Lives Enigma - In The Shadow, In The Light Enigma - Dreaming of Andromeda Enigma - The Piano Enigma - Voyageur Enigma - 20,000 Miles Over The Sea Enigma - Feel Me Heaven Labyrinth - A Chance (too bad it isn't out on CD yet) Labyrinth - Lady Lost In Time Labyrinth - New Horizons Labyrinth - Freeman Labyrinth - In The Shade Labyrinth - Hand in Hand

| Surprisingly, neither OCI nor I recommended any Dark At Dawn. Probably an accidental omission as he and I are the only proponents of the band on this board as far as I know. My recommendations from the band would be: Road To Eternity The Ones With The Fiery Eyes One Night Fall. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| oh yeah I'm huge on Dark at Dawn, just don't know if they would go on the mixes *right now*, like I said. Lots of bands are missing from there... get at me in say a week though and it could all change, just depends on the mood. If I had to rec Dark at Dawn songs though, they would be:
Baneful Skies The 5th Horseman Silva Mea Daybreak Avalon The Road To Eternity The Alliance End of Ice-Warriorqueen

| By definition, a "mix" tape should include various styles IMO. Hence the reason I listed everything from Therion to Rancid. Dark At Dawn should be represented in there somewhere. Unless what you're really looking for is stuff to get laid by. Then my list would be entirely different. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| - Paul Gilbert - Individually Twisted, I Am Satan, Spaceship One, Suicide Lover, Alligator Farm - Extreme - Get The Funk Out, Decadence Dance, Rest In Peace, More Than Words, Play With Me, Suzie Wants Her All Day Sucker, He-Man Woman Hater, Hole-Hearted - The Wildhearts - TV Tan, Loveshit, I Wanna Go Where The People Go, Sick of Drugs - Slash's Snakepit - Life's Sweet Drug, Mean Bone, Dime Store Rock, Beggars & Hangers-On - Guns N' Roses - anything off Appetite.
Yeah, nothing says summer driving like occasionally cheesy hard rock. I had to stop myself from adding in Poison, Bon Jovi and Slaughter. _________________

| Smindas, good call on the Paul Gilbert stuff. His solo albums are great. 'I Am Satan" is a pisser. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.
