Why? Seems pretty logical to me. He's on the new album, he's touring with the Slash, Alter Bridge is on hold (I think) during the Creed reunion. Assuming the guy's not another flaming a-hole, why not? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Myles Kennedy would be an excellent choice, this was the guy that was almost the stand in for Robert Plant in that, non Led Zeppelin reunion that the band called to halt a few years ago.

Assuming the guy's not another flaming a-hole, why not? Because I do that's why, seriously though I dont have any info you are not privvy too but when Weiland got booted from VR I had a feeling in my gut going to the very core of my being that this was not the end of his relationship with that band. That he'd probobly be back at some point. Just because the guy is friends with Slash doesnt mean he's gonna join his band. If we went by that logic then youd have to add all his "friends" that can sing to the list and most fans have been doing that. Like i said I believe what I believe because its what I feel more than anything. Its nothing against Myles Kennedy or anything cuz I dont know the guy not familiar with his vocal style.

| Despite MetalRob's best effeorts, I haven't a clue as to what Myles even sounds like. Never heard any of the Alter Bridge stuff and I haven't picked up Slash's solo album yet. I'm just thinking that if Slash wants to put out another VR album sooner rather than later, he shouldn't wait around for Scott Weiland. New STP album to promote and tour, then another solo album, then maybe another VR record? Not to mention Scott's on-going battles with his "personal demons". Hearing him on Howard Stern last week didn't exactly convince me that he's over whatever addictions he's clinging to. Slash seems like a decent fella, but he's a glutton for punishment if he puts up with more asinine singers. Who knows, maybe Myles is a wanker too? And speaking of Scott Weiland, has anyone heard his solo albums? I've only heard a song or 2 and they didn't do much for me. Am I missing anything good? _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. I love both Scott's solo albums but youre asking the wrong person about that as Im a big fan of Weiland and his solo stuff. Slash isnt waiting on anybody, not to mention Duff's in Jane's Addiction right now and Scott's not the only one with personal demons the only difference is, his have been publicized | |

- STONE TEMPLE PILOTS have announced they have "officially terminated" their lead singer, Scott Weiland. No reason was given for the split. A spokeswoman said the band has no further comment at this time.
Weiland is getting ready to embark on a solo tour where he will perform songs from the first two STONE TEMPLE PILOTS albums, 1992's "Core" and 1994's "Purple".

Former STONE TEMPLE PILOTS singer Scott Weiland has released the following statement regarding his dismissal from the group:
"I learned of my supposed 'termination' from STONE TEMPLE PILOTS this morning by reading about it in the press. Not sure how I can be 'terminated' from a band that I founded, fronted and co-wrote many of its biggest hits, but that's something for the lawyers to figure out. In the meantime, I'm looking forward to seeing all of my fans on my solo tour which starts this Friday."

On Tuesday, February 26, a day before he was officially "terminated" from STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, singer Scott Weiland spoke to RollingStone.com about a number of topics, including STP, his willingness to reunite with VELVET REVOLVER and his upcoming solo album.
Asked about the status of STONE TEMPLE PILOTS, Weiland said: "STP has not broken up. I haven't quit. I haven't been fired. We're talking about when we want to tour next.
"My personal feeling is that we just need some new blood in the band. It'll give it new energy, so that we're not just playing the same greatest hits set we've been playing ever since we got back together after I left VELVET REVOLVER. I'd like to make a new record so it breathes new life into it. Right now, I'm focused on building my solo career with this group of guys. That's what feels right.
"As far as VELVET REVOLVER goes, I'd love it if it happened. But it's not something I can count on, and it's not something that I can control. If it happens, it'll happen. It would be a great thing. I know the fans would love to see it, but I respect that Slash has a solo career and he wants it to succeed the same way that I would like my solo career to succeed. Having said that, whether things work out in a timely fashion, and if it's quarterbacked right by the team and we all work together . . . it's all very sensitive right now, but I'd like to do it. It would be fun.
"[The other] guys [in STONE TEMPLE PILOTS] wanted to get together to talk about touring, but I don't think touring right now is the best thing. STP has a legacy, and to protect that is very, very important to me. But to go and do the kind of offers that we were getting would be diminishing the brand, and I don't want to do that. There are offers right now. There are offers that I passed up on. There's offers that those guys didn't want as well. There were some hurt egos, but that's the way it is. Things are like a family. No one's ever fired anybody in STP.
"It's the same thing with VELVET REVOLVER. The whole thing that happened in VR is that I was called by [STONE TEMPLE PILOTS guitarist] Dean [DeLeo] while I was on tour with VR. He said, 'There are a few festival offers. Would you like to do something?' So I approached the guys in VR. They said, 'Yeah, just a few shows? No problem.' Then we went on tour in Europe. We were there for a long time, and everyone in the band went through some difficult times in their own way. "
