- 4 songs are from VIOLENT NEW BREED (i have that great album on cd): VIOLENT NEW BREED, MORNING AFTER, EYE OF THE STORM and BOOM but in total their are 13 songs, still 9 are new. Not bad, because WASP last albums had less original/new tracks. I am very interested in this new proyect, i missed Chris Holmes.
Man, there are no new tracks: "Purgatory" track listing: 01. Cardiac Arrest 02. Can't Stop 03. Don't Wanna Die 04. Crying Eagle 05. Unnatural High 06. Judgment Day 07. Zombie (CRANBERRIES cover) 08. Lust 09. Violent New Breed 10. Morning After 11. Eye of the Storm 12. Boom These are ALL Animal tracks from the last 2 discs...What's the point? I mean, I thought the last 2 Animal albums ruled (the 1st one sucked) but what the hell? Their press release looks like the guys just form a new band and released a brand new album while all the f***ing songs have already been released. How lame is that? The guys could have worked a bit and at least write a couple new songs...This is really weird...

| Trouble in paradise:
Swedish songwriter/producer Chris Laney is not impressed with what former bandmate Randy Piper is doing in new band When Angels Suffer.
Laney was a member of Randy Piper’s Animal, and, Blabbermouth report, has issued the following strong statement:
“Chris Laney has been contacted by fans that told him that his former band colleagues Randy Piper and Rich Lewis are in progress of releasing songs from the Randy Piper’s Animal albums Violent New Breed, released in 2006, and Virus, released in 2008.
“Chris Laney is both songwriter and producer of Violent New Breed and Virus.
“Chris Laney was told that Randy Piper and Rich Lewis are releasing songs from those two albums, but under a new album name and with new band members and new band name. Randy Piper’s new band is called W.A.S. (Where Angels Suffer) and the so-called new album is called Purgatory.
“Chris Laney could not believe such a rip-off could be true, but when he checked the samples at Amazon, he was totally taken aback. All songs on Purgatory are taken from Violent New Breed and Virus without being re-recorded or remixed.
“Chris Laney owns the mastertape and copyrights on Violent New Breed and Virus. The Swedish record label who released Violent New Breed and Virus owns the license rights on those two albums. In other words, all songs sampled at Amazon as W.A.S. album Purgatory are owned by others than W.A.S.
“Chris Laney has contacted his old bandmates and awaits an answer. Chris Laney deeply hopes the song list and song samples for Purgatory is a giant misunderstanding.”

| Incredibly stupid thing to do if what Chris Laney is telling the truth, but I am no expert on the band Animal but I do not think those recordings set the rock world on fire. | |

| Rowdy Randy Piper responds... - Quote :
- "Look before you leap, peeps. Credits on both albums read as follows: songs are written by Chris Laney, Randy Piper and Rich Lewis.
"Rich Lewis and I felt the fans deserved to hear these great tunes here in the USA.
"Chris Laney is a great songwriter and we hope to collaborate with him on another project in the future."
"The WHERE ANGELS SUFFER 'Purgatory' CD is a preliminary album to our new lineup of band members. We are working feverishly on our new songs. In fact, we are gathered together here in Florida as we speak.
"A lot of our fans have never heard 'Violent New Breed' and 'Virus' by RANDY PIPER'S ANIMAL, released on Locomotive Records, so we decided to release it now.
"We will be performing some of the songs from the 'Purgatory' album live in concert on our current tour.
"Locomotive Records closed their doors soon after they launched the record in the European market. Subsequently the record was not released in the USA."

| So let me see if I got this straight... The songs that appear on the W.A.S. Purgatory album are the same exact songs that appeared on two different 'Animal' records that were never offically released in the US. The songs have NOT been re-recorded or re-mixed and DO NOT feature Chris Holmes on guitar. You'd think that someone might have made mention of that in the initial press release. Sounds like Randy Piper was trying to pull a fast one here, got caught and is now trying to backpedal saying that this is only "preliminary album to our new lineup of band members". _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | - Quote :
- According to a press release, Where Angels Suffer "will embrace their metal history while simultaneously astounding their fans with groundbreaking original songs that could only be created by the exceptional chemistry and passion these professional musicians [Piper, Holmes & Howland] discovered when they came together again."
Except that the songs are not original and don't feature Chris Holmes. - Quote :
- Most of the recording sessions for the CD took place in Ft. Myers, Florida where the band comes together "to share ideas and tap the endless well of creativity their union has inspired," according to a press release.
...which will be used for the next album. In the meantime, enjoy these tunes that were recorded years ago and only heard by the 16 people that bought the album in Eastern Europe. - Quote :
- Lewis, a longtime friend and fellow musician of Piper and Holmes, was a natural choice for Where Angles Suffer frontman and has become a key component to this venture.
...because his vocals were already on the tunes we're re-packaging. We didn't have the money to re-record someone else. Geez, is there anything in that press release that isn't complete and utter bullschmidt? I'm starting to doubt that Piper and Holmes were even in W.A.S.P. anymore!! _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | This conversation is far too in depth for a band fronted by Randy Piper.
Randy Piper?! Are you kidding me - the first thing anyone should ask is : is this guy still alive?
Either way, he'll have to perform with a paper bag over his head - audiences will faint when they take a look at him. Have you guys seen what he looks like nowadays? Damn - it's like he's out of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre movie.
He wrote some great tunes with WASP back in the day but he hasn't done anything worthwhile in years. About the only thing he's kept at is drowning in booze.

As much as this whole W.A.S. thing is utter bullsh**t (and that releasing a supposedly new album with old songs is beyond lame), did you ever hear the 2 Animal albums from where the songs come from? Violent New Breed (2006) and Virus (2008) are excellent traditional heavy metal discs. So, to say Piper has not done anything worthwhile recently is also bullsh**t.
