Has anyone ordered music from cdbaby? They look legit and I haven't heard any horror stories, but I thought I'd get some other opinions. I've been eyeing up some of their $5 specials and want to make sure they're ok before I place my order. Any stories, good, bad or indifferent, would be helpful.

Excellent service! They are quick shippers and the email they send when you order is kinda humorous.

Yeah, that e-mail is funny!
One thing you should be aware of is that CD Baby sells CDs sent by bands. They don't manufacture anything. So if a band releases a CD in a cheap cardboard sleeve, that's what you'll get. Some bands sell CDRs through there, too, but they usually have "CDR" listed as the format. Either way, it's a great site. Lots of legit bands use them.

Only once, I bought an album by Pink Steel. Yes, the site has good service.

Wow! I've been going through the $5 section for like two weeks now, adding stuff and then thinking about it for a few days, and then removing stuff. So this thread got me going back again, and Katatonia's Dance Of December Souls (remastered) is on sale for $5! OUTSTANDING!

Yea, I noticed that some cd's are listed as CD-R's and some cd's listed are a picture of the actual cd, as opposed to the album cover.
I'm putting in an order today. I was pretty sure they were a reputable service, but I wanted to run it before this "Metal Council" before I committed.

I placed my order. I got a boatload of stuff coming (Shhhhhh, don't tell the wife) . Everyone should really check out their $5 section. Tons of cool music, especially metal, all for $5 bucks a pop (provided you buy at least 3, which wasn't a problem for me ) and you can listen to clips before you buy.

I've browsed this site from time to time but have never ordered anything from them. Maybe it's time to change that?

I've said it once (or maybe 5 or 6 times) and I'll say it again:
If you like Testament (Practice era) then you need to order Steel Reign - Change To Insane off of CDBaby!!

Dang! I missed this one. I like what I'm hearing though. They'll have to wait till my next visit. I was starting to get a little crazy and needed to check-out before I really went overboard.

The one problem with that site is that they give the bands way too many choices of genres. I mean, there's a Queercore genre! WHAT? Hahaha.
The inherent problem is that most bands don't know what genre to place themselves in, or they choose too many thinking they're going to get more exposure. If you check out the 80s rock section, like 50% of the bands listed describe themselves as anything but 80s rock. The same applies to all the genres. It's kind of annoying, but if you dig enough you'll find some great things.

I think I saw the Phoenix Reign cd on the third shelf down the fifth isle. I could be wrong though. I think that guy with the clip board was looking for it.

actually im serious they do have our cd. We've sold out a couple of times from there. Definetly a good place to sell your cd from. They also get your songs up on iTunes. They also run some good sales from time to time.

I second that emotion (Sorry Smokey)...I think I just sported some major wood after watching that video. I must visit this place immediately. That place had me at hello.
