| I'm not sure if "Police Academy" and "greatness" should be in the same sentence together. It's funny, sure...but it's no Airplane.

| Terrible idea - I loved the original, but absolutely no need for a remake! http://www.darkhorizons.com/news/26755/ericson-core-helms-point-break-remake Cinematographer turned filmmaker Ericson Core ("Invincible") has been set to direct the remake of 1991 cult classic "Point Break" for Alcon Entertainment and Warner Bros. Pictures. Oscar winner Kathryn Bigelow helmed the original which starred Keanu Reeves as an undercover FBI agent who infiltrates a group of surfers (led by Patrick Swayze) who have pulled off a series of bank robberies. The remake shifts the setting from surfing to the world of international extreme sports. Broderick Johnson, Andrew Kosove, Michael De Luca, John Baldecchi, Chris Taylor and Kurt Wimmer will produce. Wimmer ("Salt," "Law Abiding Citizen") also penned the script, and shooting begins at the end of the year. | |

| I can understand remaking Weird Science, a simple high-concept comedy being remade for the new century...they can cast a new uber-babe.
The Point Break thing makes no sense however....

Clue has become a cult classic over the years...but the original was a semi-flop at the box office when it came out so I'm not that surprised that a remake got nixed. |

| Clue was very close in style to those late 70s comedy/murder mystery films like "Murder By Death" and "Who's Killing The Great Chefs of Europe". Taking the basic Agatha Christie "Ten Little Indians" motif and turning it into a goofy comedy. |

| Speaking of which, I love "Murder By Death"! Jessica Marbles: I smell gas! Miss Withers: I can't help it, I'm old. Jessica Marbles: No, the kind that kills. Miss Withers: Sometimes mine... Plus Peter Sellers as an Asian man and Peter Falk steal the show. I haven't seen either movie (MbD and Clue) in so damn long, I may need to see if I can't get both real cheap. | |

| I remember "Clue" having a unique gimmick back in the day -- there were three different endings to the movie, and which ending you got depended on what theatre you saw it in. I remember seeing newspaper ads for the film that told you which theater was showing "Ending #1," "Ending #2," etc. at the bottom. I guess they were banking on people paying to see the movie three times at three diffferent theatres to see all the endings. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

Well, I first saw it on VHS so I got to see every ending on it. BTW, everytime I think of that movie, I hear "Life Could Be A Dream" in my head. Also related, the 100th episode of Psych was a parody on the movie (including an alternate ending).

| I was so mad when Clue quickly left theaters without getting to see the other endings. It was terminal waiting for that to hit video. Remember when it would take stuff forever to come out on vhs. Now I see stuff that I swore hadn't even hit theaters yet.
I can see swiping the concept of Point Break, but if it doesn't involve surfing why even keep the title. I was the rare person who really liked that when it came out. Gary Busey of all people makes that movie for me.
Re-making Weird Science is blasphemous to me. That movie represents so perfectly a time, place, style, and thing that is so 80's. Not to mention how perfectly the movie was cast. The silly concept gets sold through the performances. No way they pull that trick off today with the usual crew they put in the leads of these things.

I'm still amazed how quickly things come out of the theater these days. The good thing is they get to the bargain cinema quicker allowing me to save a few bucks and see multiple movies on the same visit without a long wait.

| I don't think I've ever seen a remake I've liked, and I know why: I'm already familiar with the story, so it's predictable and boring, which is the worst kind of movie. Remakes are nothing but idiot moves. Reboots seem to be working however, to some degree.
Murder by Death is the greatest of the "Ten Little Indian" variations, bar none. Fricking laugh riot.

| One remake I actually did like (which definitely surprised me) was Dawn Of The Dead. They threw some new stuff in there (like the gun owner across the street) and I liked the downer ending much more than the happy ending of the original. But I agree, by and large I avoid remakes like the plague. Thankfully, the remake of Hellraiser is apparently dead. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

Yeah, I liked that one a lot. The opening sequence was brilliant, with the girl and her boyfriend having no idea what was going on outside cuz they were having a romantic evening with no TV or radio... till that little girl zombie walked into their apartment in the morning and took a bite out of the boyfriend... By the time she runs out into the street with all the chaos in full swing, it's become one of the best "You are completely shit outta luck" sequences ever put to celluloid. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I read that Rob Zombie is gonna do a horror spoof of "Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman". The chick frm the anti-smoking commercial is gonna play the leading role. _________________ | |

This is an example of a remake that really wasn't a remake at all except for two things: name and location. It's nothing like the original masterpiece, and should have been called something else entirely. That said, I did enjoy this one a bit, and to be honest I had forgotten until someone had mentioned it.

i was referring to the anticipation as the camera worked its way from the floor upwards. They can film the scene again but i dont think it will match the original. _________________

| The thing is they'll go for the hot face of the moment rather than someone who can pull it off personality wise. Kelly LeBrock was perfect in that role from both the looks and personality. It wasn't just that she was hot, but she was also so cool. My guess is the remake will forget about that part of it and only focus on the looks. | |
