Addy I am not a fan of the 'power metal genre' either with an exception of a small handful of bands
Manny theres alot of bands that I think we both have in common, when I first started posting here It was alot of your old posts I was reviving cuz they were some good bands. But I can relate I normally can find at least one or two bands in almost any genra that would be the exception I mean hell I generally am not into Rap or Hip Hop but I do like some (as an example)

Addy I think there are a lot of bands in the power metal genre that would interest you. I just dont think the euro style fits well with you and even me. I like the more melodic almost melodic metal style like Nocturnal Rites and Excalion. Bands like Helloween, Gamma Ray, and Dragonforce do nothing for me.
Here are 2 examples of the more melodic side of it..
Rob thanks for posting these two samples of these two bands, of the two you posted I really liked Excalion over Nocturnal Rites but of all the ones posted in this thread so far those two you posted for me are the best. Like I said to Manny I can normally find a few exceptions in almost any genra, Including Heavy Metal and Im not opposed to opening myself up to check out stuff of bands in genras I dont necessarily like. One of the reasons why I have checked every single one you've posted. Would I buy any of this. Excalion I would most likely pick up if i saw it in the store. I'll be honest I wasnt aware there was a difference between Euro and Non Euro I guess would be the coined label? Heh, Yeah Id say Euro Power Metal is NOT for me. I'd like to check more into Nocturnal Rites and more Excalion but Excalion really impressed me.

Excalion are def one of my favs and I highly recommend Water Lines. That cd blows my mind. As far as Nocturnal Rites if you liked that sound I suggest you go with The 8th SIn as its a lot more melodic then work backwards as the further back you go the darker the band was...

Great song indeed and thats the style of power metal I love. It has to have groove and be very melodic at the same time...

Ive probobly listened to about 6 or 7 different songs by this band and I liked most of them, definitly can see myself getting a CD or two by them.
I do gotta say about power metal in general while I dont like the Euro Power Metal style/formula whatever alot of Power Metal bands have kick ass album covers that I gotta give credit for
I did a few more songs for Excalion and it wasnt near the caliber on the one ya posted here for me, thats how i found Dionysus

You should definetely get Waterlines by Excalion. Pretty awesome and some of the tracks are really great. The Wingman is a great opener.

I only own Excalion's Waterlines and that album blows me away. Highly recommended. The song I posted is one of my fav power metal songs ever. Their newest album is a step in the more melodic style but still pretty powerfull...

This group reminds me of say, a Buckcherry. Adding some grit to the modern sound. Ok but i'm not rushing out to buy it.

Wow! It's like if Nickelback came from LA instead of Canada. I do really like the first two songs, though.
From where do they hail and what year is this from?

These guys are out of Orange County CA, and are fronted by James Hart who used to front 18 Visions. Album was releases on March 31, 2009.
Not bad at all IMO.

Well being the prog fan I seen these guys recommended a lot beside Porcupine Tree. I dont see where the resemblance is but some of these songs are killer. Im not sure what to think of it yet but it has serious potential..

It's just not speaking to me, although I did like the harpsichord in "the wanting...". I did hear a very slight PT-Lightbulb Sun vibe from "a bower scene".
Have you ever heard of Anekdoten? Cool stuff.

You plan on putting this on your want list? Glad you liked Addy and Im digging this as well. The whole album is up on youtube and I have listened to every track and this might be a winner for me as well.
Chewie I have not heard of Anekdoten, but will check them out here in a few...
