Ever heard the US based joke about Soccer? Soccer - the official sport of the third world

| All I'm saying, stop calling the US version "football", unless you start using your feet for the better part of the game! Besides, what other country hold a World Series where only 1 country participates?! _________________ | |

| It's actually two countries, the Toronto Blue Jays are in Canada I'm not a big baseball fan - watching a game on TV puts me to sleep. There's a reason it's called America's past time....... It's fun to go to games though! Obviously Futbol has been around longer. Heck, Basketball and Hockey are variations of futbol. Plus, any sport that you use your foot to score or move the ball in anyway can be considered football. Futbol just never took off in America. There are more kid Soccer leagues than kid football leagues in the US and the kids start younger there too - kids just tend to gravitate towards football after a while. The only time that America tends to care about futbol is if the US team goes anywhere in the Olympics or The World Cup. It's all good, we just like to joke about futbol they way you all like to joke about our football! | |

Besides, what other country hold a World Series where only 1 country participates?! Well, I think the reason they call it football here is because of the kick offs, field goals and what not. The only sport over here you're allowed to use your feet on the ball. I asked a similar question about the world series to a friend of mine who's really into baseball about a year ago, He said the name comes from the fact the recruit players from all over the world to play on the US teams. Whether that's true or not I could care less, baseball is boring as hell. But, that's the answer I was given

| Wow, now that we've totally derailed this thread I might as well go with it.
Yeah, I never got the "World" Series thing either but it is true that major league baseball is comprised of players from all over the globe. The NBA is starting to rival MLB for international players too but I think MLB started it.
And while I appreciate the athleticism necessary to play soccer/futbol, personally I still find the sport boring as hell. I understand why people think baseball is boring but for my money it's infinitely more entertaining than soccer; probably because I understand baseball's nuances much more than I do those of soccer. Soccer to me is "run, run, head, head, kick ,kick, miss, nil-nil". I get why a few baseball games go into the 8th tied at 0 but then I also know that there's no way the damn game is gonna end in a tie. Not so in soccer and therein lies the basic problem. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

I am with toho. Football is my favorite with hockey and baseball behind. I find the soccer games pretty boring - only tennis and golf are worse in my book. I like soccer a lot more when i am playing though. It just doesnt do much for me to watch - unless the inevitable fight breaks out. _________________

Just think of me as having the looks & charm of George Clooney and the heaving bosoms of Sophia Vergara. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was.
