I can never take part in these types of discussions because I have no idea what bands would make up a power metal genre, and unit I joined this board I never even heard of 'flower metal'

This list fascinates me. The 80's had great metal, but because of this list of yours I spent a couple hours checking these bands out on youtube (throwing in Caldron Born from ToB's list) and...I just can't get into them. Not one of them. I want to like them, but there's something about them that throws me off. It's funny how subtle differences in taste can create such different looking "essentials" lists. You'd think at least early Helloween would appeal to me, but it doesn't. I've tried over and over to like those early ones. It never happens. Go figure.

Anyhow, still a cool list, just not my thing. Powermetal Essentials - Page 2 11840

Haha, well, to each their own right? I for one just plain don't like most European power (err I mean flower... sorry ToB Razz) metal. But then again, it'd be pretty boring if everyone would like the same bands right?

Awesome bands! The first Sortilege EP is my favorite French metal recording.
