| Ult... wouldn't Nevermore be considered thrash/prog? I'm pretty sure that Dreaming Neon Black isn't exactly a thrash or a progressive album, but I really don't think it's traditional metal either. And besides... who in their right mind could label that album by Nevermore hard rock? Just thought it looked kinda funny in that list, is all.
As far as traditional metal goes, maybe something by Dokken, like one of their first few albums, since I see they haven't been mentioned yet. |

| My favorite heavy/power metal bands are mainly from underground ... some favorites:
Judas Priest : practically everything, with Painkiller on the top
Accept : anything up to Russian Roulette (haven't heard the s/t though)
Iron Maiden : The Number of the Beast
Anvil : First three
Wikka : Wikka (Canadian best power metal band!!)
Lord Ryur : 7'' single from '86 - 2 tracks of completely brilliant heavy metal!!
Graven Image - The compilation People in Hell Still Want Ice Water, which contains everything they've recorded. Amazing heavy metal !!
Leather Nunn - Take the Night (their only album from '86)
Mortician - No War EP. Austrian heavy metal legends!
Stud - 7'' single from '86 - my favorite Finnish band!
Akt - Demo '85 (The first track "Battleslay" simply slays 90% of well known heavy / power bands!!)
Black Sabbath - Heaven and Hell - perfection!
And more ... | |

Nevermore is one of those bands that are hard to categorize. I wouldn't call 'em thrash for sure. I wasn't sure whether to include them on this list or not, but decided to in the end. I guess they are borderline.

| Oh, okay. I understand people see things differently and all, and I wasn't completely catagorizing Nevermore as thrash/prog, just that particular album. Their sound has definitely evolved from album to album. Either way, that's a great album, trad. metal or not, and anyone who's into metal will probably appreciate it. |

| Tradicional metal would be many of the NWOBHM bands of course, and euro metal bands from the 80s like PICTURE, TORCH, GRAVESTONE, SORTILEGE, NOISHUNTER, OBUS, PANZER, etc... and of course bands like LOUDNESS, ANTHEM, | |

I'm sorry, but I just don't have it in me to call them power metal... at least not pure power metal... perhaps power/thrash? It's easier just to call Nevermore "metal." |

| Here's a few, leaving out some of the obvious....
Tyson Dog (both)
Saint- Warriors of the Son (re-recorded)
TNT- Knights of the New Thunder
Axxis- Kingdom of the Night
Trance- Power Infusion
Yngwie Malmsteen-Fire & Ice (the song "Teaser" is a poodle that doesn't belong on that CD, but I really like the rest of the thing.)
Overkill- I Hear Black (It's too slow to be called Thrash).
Trouble- Manic Frustration (It's too fast to be called Doom. Stoner maybe).
And I promised I'd never post about Sortilege again, so I won't. Obviously there too many great bands to list. What you guys are calling Trad. Metal, I usually call "Classic Power Metal".
