I don't know, Vengeance's "Human Sacrifice" is pretty brutal. Same with Avenger of Blood's latest.

Never heard Avenger of Blood, and while I really like Human Sacrifice, it's nowhere near the sheer brutality and violence of Pleasure to Kill. The only discs that come close are Hell Awaits, Seven Churches, and Darkness Descends imo.

I think "Slaughter in the Vatican" is one of the most intense ever but not necessarily high-quality. Not many memorable riffs.

As for whether Christian bands measure up to regular bands, it's all a matter of opinion. When I include Christian albums in my lists it's because I thouroghly enjoy them not because I feel obligated to include Christian bands. If they aren't favorites, they won't end up in my lists.

Same here.

When I'm making a list of favorite thrash albums (like this), I don't give a second thought to if something is Christian or not. I judge the album on merits of music alone. It just so happens there are/were some great bands in the thrash scene - that just happened to be Christian. Deliverance, Vengeance Rising, Ultimatum. All these bands are worthy to make my list.

Now granted, some Christian thrash acts are lame and bland (Temple of Blood comes to mind), but there are always those exceptions like I stated above.

It's a pretty cool disc, and their best by far if you ask me, but it doesn't even come close to the greatness of Show No Mercy, Pleasure to Kill, or Maximum Destruction.

I'd be mostly inclined to agree. Definitely one of the more intense releases from that era, but yah, the riffs don't really stick except for a track or two. I enjoy the album, but don't find a lot of it bouncing around in my head afterwards.

I'd point to Demolition Hammer - Tortured Existence as also being incredibly violent and intense.
