| What are your favorite thrash albums? We've discussed fave thrash bands before - but let's tackle the albums this time around.
Please keep it to 25 or so.
You can include new school thrash, old school, hybrid thrash - just make sure it's thrash!
for me:
1. Sodom - Agent Orange 2. Kreator - Extreme Aggression 3. Testament - The Legacy 4. Testament - The Formation of Damnation 5. Overkill - The Years of Decay 6. Metallica - ... And Justice for All 7. Exodus - The Atrocity Exhibition: Exhibit A 8. Slayer - Seasons in the Abyss 9. Forbidden - Forbidden Evil 10. Slayer - Reign in Blood 11. Testament - The New Order 12. Exodus - Fabulous Disaster 13. Sacrament - Haunts of Violence 14. Deliverance - Weapons of Our Warfare 15. Deliverance - Deliverance 16. Metallica - Master of Puppets 17. Metallica - Ride the Lightning 18. Testament - Practice What You Preach 19. Ultimatum - Into the Pit 20. Vengeance Rising - Destruction Comes 21. Vengeance Rising - Human Sacrifice 22. Sodom - Tapping the Vein 23. Sadus - Out for Blood 24. Sabbat - Dreamweaver 25. Sodom - Code Red

Artillery - By Inheritance Forbidden - Twisted Into Form Razor - Shotgun Justice Channel Zero - Channel Zero Mottek - Fatal Violence Exodus - Fabulous Disaster Testament - The Legacy Megadeth - Rust In Peace Anthrax - Among The Living Slayer - Seasons In The Abyss Vulture - Easier To Lie Sepultura - Beneath The Remains Overkill - Under The Influence Narcotic Greed - Fatal D.A.M. - Inside Out Coroner - R.I.P. | I'll probably start WWIII here but looking through the couple of lists that are already up from the few members that took part todate, you can almost pick the users that will throw Christian Metal albums into their lists, My list is nowhere near correct, I'd have thrown in a couple more Sodom, Destruction, Overkill albums etc..... but there was no point looking at a list with maybe 10 bands providing the 25 albums, but it's everyones own taste. But in reality is there ONE Christian Metal album that would even get near a top 25 spot in one of these lists ? don't get me wrong I know damn well that probably 22 of my choices wouldn't get into that list either. |

Well he did ask for a favorite list, so in theory you can have a list of 25 Christian Metal albums as your favorites . But to answer your question, if you are listing the 25 best Thrash albums, no Christian bands would be close to making it IMO.

I know that Olaf, thats why I say that nearly all of mine wouldn't make a top 25 of Ultimate thrash albums as they were personal, but in a general sense and branching off from the original post I was making and observation that I don't think any Christian Metal album would make it into a top 25 list of Thrash albums |

| The topic of this thread was 'favorite' cds not 'best of all time'. Which is cool b/c the one thing I love about metal is that it means something different to different people depending on when you first heard a cd, how old you were, what was going on in your life, did the lyrical topics of the cd matter to you, etc.? So definitely some cds by 'christian bands' should make it on to some people's lists. I've a;ways found it a little strange that 'christain thrash' was seperated from the larger genre but not 'satanic thrash' or 'political thrash' or 'fantasy thrash' or 'atheist thrash', ya know? Anyway, love all the lists but a few cds I did not see a lot (but are very important to me) are: Death Angel--ACT III Suicidal Tendencies---Feel like___/Deja Vu Heathen---Victims of Deception Xentrix---Shattered Existence Sacred Reich---the American Way Atrophy---Violent by Nature the Crucified---Pillars of Humanity (so maybe its 'crossover' it has many great thrash riffs/neckbreaking parts throughout). Most of my other favs have been mentioned numerous times.... Peace. | |

Most of the time Christian metal is pretty bland imo, but the first two Deliverance albums are just stone cold classics. I really felt these guys had their own sound. But a lot of the Christian metal worship I just don't get. I think Theocracy are nothing special at all, to give an example. They sound like run of the mill Euro flower power metal if you ask me.

I don't know, Vengeance's "Human Sacrifice" is pretty brutal. Same with Avenger of Blood's latest.

| I can't believe I forgot Xentrix! I'd put For Whose Advantage in and take out Puppet Of Destruction (not because it's bad but it narrowly made it in my list and I want to keep it at 30). As for whether Christian bands measure up to regular bands, it's all a matter of opinion. When I include Christian albums in my lists it's because I thouroghly enjoy them not because I feel obligated to include Christian bands. If they aren't favorites, they won't end up in my lists. BTW, while Theocracy is not origional by any means, I still think the music is top notch. Origionality means nothing when the music sounds good to my ears. | |

I don't know, Vengeance's "Human Sacrifice" is pretty brutal. Same with Avenger of Blood's latest. Never heard Avenger of Blood, and while I really like Human Sacrifice, it's nowhere near the sheer brutality and violence of Pleasure to Kill. The only discs that come close are Hell Awaits, Seven Churches, and Darkness Descends imo.
