Maybe it was just the way he drew the picture. I mean come on look at that cross. first of all its just way too big. There was no way Jesus would have been able to carry that thing on his back especially if he was a stick figure. Secondly his arms are just too short, and third he's smiling. Psychiatrist no, art class yes!

However the only remark I take offense to is the Bush remark, I am no fan of him or that jackass Obama, My spiritual and Political views are seperate and because religeously/spiritually i believe one thing does not mean I support or favor the stereotypical politican. With me these are two different things, I know some meld them together but I don't

Agreed. It also annoys me to no end when those infamous Christian Right fellows speak of America's Christian history, or how the US was founded as a Christian nation, which is of course nonsense (Treaty of Tripoli anyone?).

You mean the one sentence in "article 11" written by Joel Barlow in negotiations with muslim pirates... It did not reflect the true roots of this country or the majority of the colonial citizens personal beliefs. There is also speculation that Barlow's arabic translation was flawed. The true intent was not to disclude Christianity but rather let others who do not follow Christianity live in peace here in America. The Barbary nations who were "outlaw nations"... were afraid America would become like other (official) Christian countries in europe i.e. (Britain)... which were a source of tension with their north africa muslim culture.
A treaty made with pirates ultimately doesn't hold water anyway.

Personally, I can't stand Obama, but that was great social commentary!!!!

And FYI - America was not founded as a Christian nation. Some the founding fathers were Diests and believed in one God. Many of them where Christian in their beliefs and are what the Christian right/fundementalist/etc would call "Liberal theology". Those that were Diests were some of the most influencial framers (Jefferson, Franklin) and were anti-clerical (against organized religion). Others, like Patrick Henry, were strong proponents of traditional religion.

The Freedom of religion was there to allow people to worship God and belive as they wanted - Protestant, Catholic, Jewish, Islamic, etc. or not worship at all. They figured out how to write a constitution that would work and allow for those with different beliefs. Most of them were born in the colonies under British rule and knew all about Government mandated religion. They made sure that the freedom to worship and believe was part of the foundation of the country.

Unfortunately, the "christian right", who loves to call liberals "revisionist historians" have done the exact same thing themselves.

So, that is the history lession for today....

And we can all get along- remember the rules of HoM about Ism's!!!

And for the record I am more Libertarian in my political ideology.
