CBS created this video for their web site. It mashes up clips from various "Frosty" cartoons with risque dialogue from the sitcom "How I Met Your Mother" (I believe there's a second version using dialogue from "Two and a Half Men" as well). Of course, now parents' groups are freakin' the hell out about how CBS is destroying our youth and various companies are threatening to pull their advertising from the network. So it may have backfired just a wee tad bit.
Well, what the hell, I thought it was funny anyway...

Fantastic, simply fantastic. Also I've come to expect nothing less from the open minded, sense of humor driven "journalists" over at FOX News.

Funny, but what was CBS thinking? This is something that a kid does in his bedroom and posts it on Youtube. Taking inappropriate dialog and mashing it with children's programming shouldn't have got past the storyboard stages for a major TV network. Stupid, stupid, stupid.
Unless of course, they were purposely looking to stir the pot. No such thing as bad publicity, right?

I don't understand FOX. They have some of the most tasteless shows on TV but get bent about this. It was mildly amusing but as a parent I don't want my little kids to see it.

Yea, it's pretty hypocritical for Fox to be gettin' their undies in a knot over this. "Hey kettle, yea it's me the pot. You're black". Meanwhile they're thinking of how they can get Seth Macfarlane 3 more timeslots to fill.

I don't understand that either. FOX has THE trashiest crap on TV consistently year in and year out...but FOX news is the "voice of the conservatives"? Not to mention the FOX News website is littered with soft porn and chicks hanging out of bikinis right below there main stories. **keyboards and mice burning up as Freddy and MetalGuy scamper to foxnews.com**

For the record, I'm not a Fox News (or as Henry Rollins calls'em, "The Fox Republican Network") fan at all... but when I Google searched for a link to a news story about the controversy over this video, their site was the first thing that came back...
I agree, the "Frosty" vid is tasteless and obviously should not be viewed by minors. My kids are definitely not going to see this "Frosty." And like MetalGuy said, it was a pretty dumb move by the network to whip something like this up. I betcha somebody in their marketing department is gonna get a pink slip for Christmas by the time the story blows over.
...but hey, I still gotta few immature chuckles from it and that's all that matters.
Any of you guys ever seen "It's Muthaf*ckin' Ramadan, Charlie Brown," "A Charlie Brown Kwanzaa" or any of the other "Peanuts" mashup videos on mostoffensivevideo.com? They make this "Frosty" look like Barney the Dinosaur by comparison. If any of the folks who're getting their undies in a bunch over "Frosty" ever saw any of those, they'd probably keel over and die at their keyboards.

Yea, don't get me wrong either. I found the video slightly amusing. I don't watch the show 'How I Met Your Mother', but judging from those clips, I don't know that I'll be tuning in anytime soon. And while I'm no fan of any news programs, I do enjoy looking at boobies. No crime there. Except when the night vision goggles are involved apparently. But that's another story.
My issue is that CBS would put this out there and think it wouldn't cause a stink. Poor judgement on their part. Aside from getting them some cheap publicity, I'm not even sure what they were going for here? Did they think this was gonna make 'em seem hip or gain some new viewership?
And for the record, I did check out that mostoffensive website. Unfortunately, most of the videos were too long to watch at work to know if my sensibilities are offended or not.

Agree. If your gonna do adult cartoons and stuff thats fine but taking something that is meant to be kid friendly and making it adult oriented is not cool. But it just goes to show that most tv really isnt worth much anyways..
I like Fox News a lot but i dont watch the entertainment channel. People call it the Republican channel but if you watch the news and put the opinion personalities aside - they do a much better job than the others. But then again - I agree with a lot what the personalities present.
I do agree though that the use of women on the website doesnt fit their on air mantra.

I would much rather know something is an opinion show on Fox News than have to constantly see the bias the others are feeding into their news stories and how they choose to ignore stuff they dont agree with.

This is what annoys me about people slamming FNC; they seem to be incapable of differentiating between the opinion programs like Beck and O'Reilly and the news shows.
For my money, FNC's NEWS shows (like those that air at noon, 5pm and 6pm - CST) are much less biased than the "news" shows on other news networks.
For the record, I can't stand Beck; he's way too strident and abrasive and while I generally agree with O'Reilly, he too can be really annoying. But those aren't news shows people; those are "opinion shows".
Edit: to add that I watched the original Frosty video in this thread and found it mildly amusing but definitely out of place on a mainstream network's site. I also read the criticism posted on the Fox News site and noted that it was an "EDITORIAL"; something all other newspapers and news sites trade in. It was one person's opinion and does not necessarily reflect the opinion of the site in general.
Geez, if MSNBC ran an editorial slamming the religious overtones of a Charlie Brown Christmas, no one would bat an eye.

therein lies the problem. The majors have theirs 'news' so tuned to the view they want to present that their opinion shows read just the like the news.

Nice to see some defence of Fox news. However, I doubt it would do any good. Most people who bad mouth it have never even watched it and have no intention of watching it. They've made up their mind from secondary sources and in my experience once someone is dead set against something no amount of reasoning will change their mind.

Was that YOU? My kids are still traumatized, you shall be hearing from my lawyer! Now whenever they hear "Jingle Bells" they curl up into a fetal position and cry. Sheesh!
