| AC/DC are to release a major box set on November 10. It’s to be titled Backtracks, and as Classic Rock recently reported, the box itself will double as an amplifier. This will deliver one watt of power, thereby allowing you to listen to the music within the box itself! Limited to 50,000 copies and only available from a website specifically set up by the band (see below for the address), the box set will have three CDs, two DVD discs and an LP. CD 1 is to have tracks from the band’s early Australia-only albums, plus B-sides and movie soundtrack material. CDs 2 and 3 will have live rarities. The first DVD disc is an addition to the Family Jewels set, with more promo clips and live tracks. The other DVD disc has a full show from Circus Krone in Munich. The LP will have studio rarities. | I would love to own this, I'll have to settle for the best of the box, the limited edition version is a little pricey for me. | |

| Yea, it's a nice package they put together and I'd like to have it, but I'm afraid it's way outta my budget. $199 is too steep for this guy, especially since I'm mostly only interested in that 1st disc of rarities. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Yea, for me personally, if I'm dropping that much coin for music, I'd take the Beatles Remasters over this. Apples & oranges, I know. But I'd listen to all of those Beatles albums more often. Eh, it ain't like I'm getting either one anytime soon anyway. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. | Most of that first disc is stuff that should've been released on the BONFIRE set.... $200 !! that's crap... What happened to 'not ripping off the fans'...
I already have those Australian released tracks. I own the Australian Dirty Deeds on CD... R.I.P. is a great song, Cold Hearted Man is as well (originaly released on European version of Powerage, vinyl only)... Carry Me Home (outtake from either Dirty Deeds or Let There Be Rock) is a good song and Crabsody in Blue is simply hilarious!!!
The Who Made Who extended was the version I used to hear on the radio... Why the waited 20 years to make it available is stupid....
Do we really need more live tracks????? I guess but ..........
I'm gonna quote a phrase I detest but I hear it a lot "What IN THIS ECONOMY!!!" I guess I'll wait for the 3 disc box... | |

| Got this yesturday. I have some mixed feelings about it. The amplifier box itself isnt really an amplifier. Its a cardboard box that looks like an amp. Its cool but I think for the price they could have actually made it a real amp. I dont like the thing the cds and dvd are in. It looks like a record but when you open it there are the cds slipped inside little slots which will over time scratch the cds. And there is also a loose poster that tells you the contents of the cds. They could have atleast made it like a book attached to the book the cds were in or made individual cases for each cd which I would have preferred maybe with some artwork of the releases thrown in there. The rarities record is just a record inside a sleeve thats wrapped so I dont think Im going to open it. Theres also a folder with a few pictures, a pic, a pin, a tattoo, a huge ugly poster and a copy of a mixing board sheet. Then there is a huge book full of pictures and some notes here and there. I didnt really sit and read anything, but it doesnt seem like it tells any sort of story of what went on with the recordings. I thought maybe it would have been something close to what the Thin Lizzy box set is which has tons of info and pictures etc. So in all, I havent listened to the music yet but I'm set to do so in a few minutes, I think a lot more could have been done with this thing especially for the money. Its definetly a cool collectors item but if you have most or all of this stuff then theres really no reason to get it. I dont think I would hook up my guitar to this thing or even plug anything into it because it looks like if you make one false move you could end up breaking it. The volume buttons aren't real so theres no volume control and the actual speaker is on top of the amp head and its about the size of a POG, remember those? Maybe bands should let their fans design box sets. Some are cool and interesting but theres always something that makes me think why didn't they do this or that. Im interested to see what they will do with the Sentenced box set. I hope they don't get rid of the artwork or something rediculous. Ok thats my rant for today. _________________ | |
