| So I'll admit it. I d/l this last night. I had to hear what all the hub-bub was about.
Ummm...it's alright, but it's a bit too similar to UA. The political lyrics are just trite and pointless to me. I always remember what Alice Cooper said years ago. Politics and rock n roll don't mix. Take notes, Dave.
Is the new guitarist the guy who does all those sweeps? I don't like that sound. Dave should just do all the guitars himself. Just him and Shawn Drover should record the albums and hire a guitarist (like Jeff Waters) and bassist for touring purposes only.
All in all, I'll buy it when I'm in a store, but I'm in no hurry. Just another Megadeth album, IMO. |

I must agree with you on that statement. Political lyrics (even those I agree with-though in metal/rock it's very rare) get pretty annoying. If I want to hear politics there are many places I can go to but I prefer it to be left out of my music and entertainment. I however, really like this album (as I did UA) but of course I'll need to give it another spin before I solidify my opinion. And I agree, Dave should stay away from ballads (the exception being A Tout le Monde) because this one is the weak point of the album.

If that's what they sing about...yes. I've never heard them. |

...except in Warrior Soul. I haven't heard the new 'Deth album yet but I may try to run out to the Wal-Mart near my office and pick it up tomorrow. Nobody tell my wife, OK? I don't care for Kory's politics, but it works for them. You're gonna be stressing about buying that album until you do it, aren't you? |

They can write about whatever they want and I'm not saying I won't listen to politically charged bands. However, I really don't care for political lyrics much.

I don't like political lyrics in my music from either side. Heck, Ministry released about three albums in a row that were all anti-Bush screeds. They have the right to do that but I also have the right to say I'm done buying your stuff until you find another theme. And it really doesn't have anything to do with the fact that they were anti Bush; those album could be ragging on the evils of the sky being blue and I'd still boycott them. Lazy lyrics IMO. And I'm not even a lyrics person; if I notice the lyrics they are either really good or really bad. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Sometimes it's good to vent a song here or there about politics. The subject may make for a heavy song. But i don't want a full album of it... | |

| I really like it. I'm on my 4th spin today and it's got a great mix of the old and the new. I think Dave sounds a bit reenergized. Peace. | |

| I'm giving this album an 8 out of 10. I am really enjoying the album (I have heard it 3 times through now). The dueling guitar leads sound great. The slow "love song" is not my favorite track for sure. I agree with Dallas Black - with the exception being A Tout le Monde, Dave should not do slow songs. Favorite tracks: Dialectic Chaos This Day we Fight! 1,320 Degrees Head Crusher It is a very worthy follow-up to UA and very enjoyable. At least Dave is cranking out some good metal these days. Rock on Dave | |

I just listened to The World Needs a Hero in full last night -- I like BOTH of those songs.

| For those of ya who might be interested, Megadeth will be performing on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" tonight. I don't stay up that late (12:35 AM, Eastern time) but may DVR it. If I forget (and I probably will), I'm sure it'll be on YouTube by this time tomorrow. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| As I expected, the more I spin Endgame, the more I get out of it. It didn't overwhelm me initially, but I'm already quite fond of it now. _________________ | |

| Ok, hear me out.
Although I think Endgame has heavier riffs, better solos, and better production, I still like Death Magnetic more, and I'll tell you why. Although James doesn't sound as good as he did ten years ago, there seems to be more emotion in the vocals than with Dave. With "My Apocalypse," you could seemingly visualize James snarling and putting everything he has behind the lyrics. Same goes for pretty much every other song on Death Magnetic.
But when it comes to Endgame, it just seems that Dave is just standing behind the mic, passively reading the lyrics. Go listen to Rust In Peace, So Far So Good...So What!, heck, even Countdown To Extinction and Youthanasia. You can feel the aggression and spirit in the lyrics Dave is singing. It just doesn't feel the same on Endgame.
Overall, good album, but WAY overhyped. Dave really has mellowed too much over the years.
