| Hey, DB hope it's a great day. Sounds like you've gone through some rough stuff but you seem pretty level headed. I hope and pray you can find a couple people to be close to, that makes life easier. I have never had a lot of friends but i've had a couple good ones that have been there for me. |

| Happy Birthday! Hope that it was a good one, regardless of the dentist and the lack of Stargate. | |

- I've been waiting for this to happen for a few years now and it is finally here. Over here yesterday at 6 p.m. it was exactly 3 decades since my birth. Now I just need to stay 30, no need to get to 31. All I did was eat Olive Garden, went to the dentist, spent a total of 4-5 hours painting a drawing of mine on Microsoft Paint (see avatar), and slept. I was going to see the G.I. Joe movie but didn't feel like it. Went to Blockbuster because I knew a new Stargate movie came out but they didn't have it and I lost all interest in seeing anything else. Good thing school is starting in a few days because my life has reached a standstill and needs a good jump start. I've got to get a deeper than normal cleaning which is going to hurt like a mother because of my sensitive teeth (they said they will numb my gums up but that means a shot which will hurt later) and then I work tonight. When I get off at 7 a.m. I have a dentist appointment at 7:10 for 5 fillings, class orientation at 2 p.m., Galactic Cowboys concert at 7 p.m then I have to be at school the next day from 7:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and then have to be at work at 10 p.m. Maybe I shouldn't have turned 30 after all...oh well.
Olive Garden on your birthday? M aybe we aren't so different... you and I.

Funny you brought that up. In response to a work buddy, I have already made an aqaintence with a fellow Navy veteran (actually I had met him two weeks ago when we were both waiting on information on the G.I. Bill). And we're in the same basic class. As far as the ladies, a major reason why I never have been in a relationship was because no attractive females ever showed me any interest and many have given me the impression that I was ugly. However, the instructor was making a point and asked the only attractive girl (the only other girl is by all appearance a butch lesbian) who she thought was the hansomest guy in the class and she picked me. Flatering as hell and gives me some hope.

| Congrats on your choice of a career. I have been a tech since 1991, & have pulled in 6 figures quite a few times, there is money to be made because nobody wants to do it anymore. If you have any questions just PM me, I'll give you a little advise to start out.. 1. Stay away from independent shops. 2. Half of your work day will be spent in front of a computer so get ready for it!! 3. Pick a brand & try to stick with it, GM Ford & Chrysler are good money makers, lets face it they break!! 4. The first 3-5 years you are'nt going to make much $ & you will wonder why in the hell did I pick this as a career. Stick with it & you will be rewarded. 5. Pick a speciality, tranny, diesel & electrical are the money makers. All I do is trim & electrical work, it's an aquired taste but nobody in the shop wants to do it, therefore making you a more valuable employee. 6. There is a suprising amount of politics in a shop, dont go into it with your feelings on your shoulder. Hope this helps a little bit & good luck. | |

Thanks for the advice, I might take you up on the help offer. As far as not making much at first, I'm not too worried, as long as I'm able to move out of my dad's house so he can sell it and get something more cost efficent (seeing as houses reqire so much more than insurance or mortgage payments). This gives me the opportunity to do something besides customer service (if I have to deal with retail much longer I might just snap ).

| I live in Shreveport, our market & yours are comparable, We start our newbie techs at about 13.50 a flag hour. If you are even a half -arsed tech you should clear 25 to 35 the first year. Dont be insulted if they make you work in the lube bay the first few months, It is the easiest way to get used to the grind. I know all the guys at the GM training center in Garland on Shiloh Rd, they know a lot of the managers at the GM dealers in DFW when job hunting time comes, dont be afraid to start at a smaller dealer in Terrell or someplace like that. When I started I had no training & was thrown to the wolves but I made it anyway. Just set goals & achieve them & you'll be riding the gravy train in no time. | |

| happy b-day and blessings to you. I am glad you have regain some strenght to get back to school, start to socialize again, and get out of the depression that you were.
I am sure all of us go similar situations. I am just 22, and was into a deep depression until my sister was born 3 years ago, It was due that I had to migrate to the US, since I have a tumor that cant be removed on my hand, and I never got used to the states. In this process I have learned to appreciate my family like I never had, and hopefully I will start college by the end of this year or the beginning of the next one, when I have more money saved. My plans are one day to make my own restaurant, probably a pizza restaurant, since that is what we used to have in our country.

Turns out that Stargate was the director's cut of the pilot episode and not a new SG1 movie.
