Thats what I hate about stacking them on top of each other.I keep mine on bookshelves stacked side by side.Alphabetically and by release date.I know-OCD.My wife tells me all the time. Laughing

Sort of. Most of them are in order, but it's impossible to shuffle new ones in, so I have stacks out of order as well. Surprisingly I seem to remember where it's all at. One of these days I hope to have a music room in my house that I can put these in and they will indeed all be in order.

If that's OCD, then I've got it too. I arrange mine the same way.

On the other hand, my wife just heaps her CDs in a box under the desk in the corner of our bedroom. Of course, she only has about 50 CDs total and I have about ten times that. Smile

Man, I love my CDs but I can't fathom having that many. My collection in tiny compared to most of the board here (about 250 + - ) and I've found that for my piece of mind I have to limit my CD intake (at least ones I purchase to about 2/month or 25 a year.) EVEN at that rate I just will not have room for it all in 15 years...nor time to listen to it all!! How do you guys with 1000's know your catalogue?? I listen to 5-10 hours of music a day and still don't feel like I know my collection like I'd like to...

Anyhow, I don't think CDs will totally disappear for a LONG time and I'm like others here that I WANT that tangible item w/art in my hands...

I will occassionaly buy a single song download style (18 total songs purchased) but that's only on the rare occassion that one GREAT song comes with an otherwise unwanted CD....

I have about 700 cds right now (about 75% metal) and will have to get rid of almost all the non-metal ones and a few of the metal ones (although I'll still have them in my computer). My goal is to one day have 1,000's of CDs myself, but I just can't at this point it time so I'll have to start downloading some songs until I'm finacially stable enough to persue my CD buiyng with vigor (exactly one year if everything goes right). I do download without paying but that is just temporary, because I just have to have my CDs!!!!

My fiancee insisted that I put all cds/lps/andwhatformatsthereareleft in alphabetical order.... So I demanded a music room... and she thought that was fair.... I'll make some pics someday soon.... Besides the fact that I buy/trade a lot of stuff I get like 300-500 cds/vinyl for review every year..... So you can imagine the room is getting too small in a way too short period of time.... Maybe I'll sell off some cds in the future....

I once caught my son (who was about three at the time) pulling a bunch of my CDs out of their cases and tossing them around the living room, pulling the booklets out, etc. so I got a CD storage cabinet with doors that close and lock. I then told him "Please don't mess with Daddy's CDs, he loves them almost as much as he loves you, and sometimes more than he loves Mommy" Laughing
