| Actually what I mainly do when I get the time is take my older CDs that aren't remastered and make Mp3s. Take those MP3s and run them throught MP3Gain and get them to be as loud as the newer music I have. That way I can make an MP3 CD to play in my pickup that doesn't have such noticable sound quality differential between songs. |

http://mp3gain.sourceforge.net/ It analyzes your files and makes them close to the same volume level. I swear by it. ...and it's freeware.... |

| when 80%+ of music is purchased digitally, which I don't see happening for a few years, cds will officially be dead. In the near future I see labels cutting budgets even more, and more labels quitting. There's really nothing much we can do to save the industry(it's their own fault, anyways), but we can help save our niche genre.
I know a lot of people here primarily buy used(i buy a lot of rarities myself), but i believe in buying new whenever possible. It will help our genre survive when other genres are dead or digital only. I don't know about you guys, but i still want metal cds being made 10 years from now. So support the end, sentinel steel, rockadrome, etc. They do a lot of good and need support during these rough times.

I am only talking about people that always download for free. It got nothing to do with people that download paying of course.

| Not at my age...I'll be 50 next year. I ain't gonna spend my retirement fund on any new format. Plus I'm pretty fixated on pre 2000 music, and I've got just about everything I want there. The world can go ahead and pass me by for all I care at this point. I've even stocked up on old tech CD players, so I think I'm good. | |
