| Some band names puzzles me, and I wanted to make a thread about it. I'll start with Exodus.... Why do this oh, so Christianity-bashing band take their name from the Bible? Or were they paying tribute to Bob Marley (I doubt it)? Does anyone know why they used this name? And tht leads to another strange thing in that another band, Legacy, lost their vocalist to Exodus, and renamed themselves Testament! I'd sure love to hear the stories behind these chosen names. _________________ | |

| Lamb of God always bothered me for the same reason. Slayer never had to do that. I guess if you're angry or mad enough.... | |

| I think they probably just thought both those names sounded cool. | |

It's got a nicer ring to it than their original name, which was "Burn The Priest" _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| Vicious Rumors is a weird one and I think it hurt them. Made them sound kind of glam when they are a great, power metal band. |

"Legacy" became "Testament" because there was already a band out there somewhere called "Legacy" that had the name first. If memory serves, Billy Milano (!) was the one who suggested the name change "Testament" to them, for whatever reason. _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I always thought "Vengeance" was a poor choice for "Vengeance Rising". Besides scriptures commanding that "vengeance is mine says the Lord" it really had no bearing on their music or message. Even though the name is CLASSIC by mine and most other's standards!! | |

| How bout the German speed metal band "Enola G*y?" Did they not think that one through? Obviously they got the name from the WWII bomber that dropped the Big One on Japan, but still I'm sure more than a few Beavis & Butt-head types must've seen it on the store rack and went "Heh heh heh. Huh huh huh. Dude, check it out. It says 'g*y' Huh huh! Heh heh!"
...not to mention, I doubt they sold many CDs in Japan! _________________ "If you're a false, don't entry, because you'll be burned and died!"

| I always thought Persuader was a goofy name. There's nothing metal about the act of persuasion. Good quality to have if you're a telemarketer though. | |

| Pink Cream 69 (or PC 69 as they are sometimes known) always bothered me. It's both fruity and juvenille. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

Dude, your monkey......is smoking. Just sayin'..... I never said I wasn't fruity or juvenille. I just don't like it for band names. And the monkey only smokes outdoors, never in the house. S'cool. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. Now what I'm with isn't it, and what's it seems weird and scary to me, and it'll happen to you, too.

WTF? According to Wiki, doesn't make it any less stupid though. The name "Edguy" was an affectionate epithet for Mr. Edgar Zimmerer, their math teacher at the time. _________________ I used to be with it, but then they changed what "it" was. The name "Edguy" was an affectionate epithet for Mr. Edgar Zimmerer, their math teacher at the time. You're right. Knowing the source only confirms that it's a dumb name. _________________ "The cat is the most ruthless, most terrifying of animals." - Spock in the "Catspaw" episode of ToS Season 2.

| Bible of the Devil. They're a band that takes influence from Motorhead, Thin Lizzy, and AC/DC but their name makes them sound like a black metal band that's just not trying very hard. | |
