Who is the funnier trio?

I know I'm reaching far back on these, but most of today's comedy actors pale in comparison.

I'd go with the Marx Brothers. I know one trio was television and the other was in cinema, but I think the Marx brothers' overall skill made them better.

The Marx brothers, hands down. While I always get a good chuckle form the Stooges' slapstick humor, the Marx Brothers excelled at pretty much everything; slaptick, acting , wit, etc..

They were completely different types of comedy acts! The 3 Stooges were low-brow while the Marx Brothers presented as intellectuals. Both are very funny, but I think I prefer the 3 Stooges.

Marx Brothers had the perfect combination of wit, slapstick, and visual gags. Three Stooges was just slapstick with spurts of wit. Obviously by that statement I prefer Marx Brothers, the banter between Groucho and Chico are priceless. Plus the Marx brothers (particularly Chico and Harpo) were higly skilled musicians (seriously, who plays the piano like Chico did?). I'm not trying to sell the Stooges short on wit because there was some here and there:

Moe: How did you get so stupid?
Larry: I went to college, what's your excuse?

Yup, and Sean Penn was gonna play Larry. Seriously. I think the project is on hold now though. Hopefully till I'm in a dark, lonely grave.

I'm a Stooges man myself (slapstick is great) but I do like the Marx Brothers.
